The phosguard seems to be doing the trick. My hair algae is starting to die back a bit and the corals are all looking a little better today. I have my fuge lit and I'll have some chaeto soon.

Parasitic conch?

I picked up this sarcophyton a couple weeks ago and discovered this little monster this morning. I saw it on the rock at the base of the toadstool when I brought it home, but I never saw it move and thought it was just an empty shell that the toadstool was growing over. It has now been removed...

Got some chaeto in the fuge today thanks to BigAl's personal delivery service. Thanks Allen!!

Hopefully my 'trates and 'phates will stay at reasonable levels now. My new test kit will be here Friday...

Hey did you name plaid yet? Has to be scottish...

how about Friseal, means "strawberry" or Ròidh, (Roy), means "red"... Earc means "speckled"

No name for plaid yet, still just plaid. I like Roy! Maybe even Rob Roy. However, the approver of all pet names (my girlfriend) has gone to sleep for the evening.

The colors look much better with the new light on and everyone seems to be enjoying it so far. I tried to get a before and after, but the pictures don't really give the full effect.

The xenia is still coming around a little bit at a time, now it has three good sized polyps pulsing away. There were four, but one got decapitated by something, but it's growing a new head already...

I've got Phosban and Hydrocarbon running semi-passively in the sump. They're both stuck in between dividers in the bubble trap. Seems to be keeping the phosphates down, but the hair algae is still growing a bit (much less than before). The chaeto in the fuge seems to be growing well, so I'm hopeful the hair algae will be snuffed out soon.
