Re: Octoman's 55 gallons of euphoria

Looking good Octoman! That ric appears to have two mouths, so it's prime to split. My first fish was a Longnose hawkfish (he is still with me). My wife has named it the Burberry fish! I also have a black urchin that came as a HH on my TBS rock. It started the size of a pencil eraser and is now the size of a ping pong ball! Keep the pictures coming-it's the next best thing to being there!

Thanks Dentoid! My urchin was the same, about the size of an eraser and now its a beast! I can't believe how much it's grown in a few months...

: Great name! Mine is still in the "unnamed" class in my tank. It takes a while for me and my girlfriend to decide on a name, so we just try to take them one at a time.

Re: Octoman's 55 gallons of euphoria

Now, on a sad note, I'd like to mention, in memoriam, my first fish in this tank. My girlfriend and I picked out a True Perc for our first fish. They claimed it was captive bred. We we're very excited, but the night I got him home, I noticed he had a small white dot on his bottom lip. Over the next few days, the white dot got larger and larger and eventually his bottom lip completely disappeared. Unfortunately Binky didn't make it . This was a sad loss and he will be remembered. We haven't gotten up the strength add another clown yet...

Oh so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately we're still at Mother Nature's mercy and sometimes she takes her "creatures" home with her for reasons we can't control or underdtsand. Hang in there and in time you'll get another one.

Best Wishes

Allen

Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!!

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: Octoman's 55 gallons of euphoria

Thank you for the kind words everyone. This happened a couple months ago, but I wanted to take time to mention him so that he would be immortalized on reefsanctuary.

On a lighter note, here's the only group shot I've got of Sonny and Cher. They dart away into their hole the second they see the camera. I have to sneak up on them to get a picture...

And I can't forget Mr. Turd, I don't think he's made it into any pictures yet!
