I'm still fighting the Hair algae a bit, but I seem to be winning the war now. I've been struggling with Calcium a bit, I added Kent Liquid Calcium every day for a couple weeks and it came up very slowly. I just started topping off with Kalkwasser a couple days ago also. I think my coralline is finally starting to bloom and eating up some calcium.

Thanks Christopher, Jeff, and Craig! I saw it at the store and when my girlfriend said she loved it too, it was a done deal!

I had a mini-crash a couple weeks ago, I accidentally overdosed the tank on iodine. At first, the corallimorph shrank up really small and everyone else looked fine, I thought maybe it was going to split. But after a couple more days, the xenia crashed and melted away to nothing in just a few hours

My urchin started losing spines and I thought he was a goner too. When I tested, I found my Iodine was off the charts and realized my mistake. I did a few water changes and put fresh carbon in and the iodine came back down quickly. I lost the xenia, but the urchin and corallimorph are recovering well now. I've decided not to dose iodine at all anymore.

My sad corallimorph...

How's that Cheato? I just had to thin mine out again night before last. The part I pulled out was FULL of tiny stars, snails and oh the PODS! I let it drain into a bucket before tossing it out. I was wondering how yours is fairing.

Thanks Al! The chaeto was just the thing I needed to get my tank running right. It grew like a weed when I put it in, sucking up all the phosphates and nitrates. Now it has slowed down and doesn't grow much, but it stays very healthy looking and very full of pods! My nitrates and phosphates are staying at 0 and my hair algae is almost completely gone, so I think it is doing its job well. I recently acquired a blind clownfish that was headed for the gas chamber. His previous owner tried very hard, but was having to grossly overfeed her tank just so he could find a bite or two. Now he lives in my fuge and hangs out with the pods in the chaeto!
