I'd love to try, the only problem is how to ship. Never done it. I'd love to do some trading so it'd be nice to know how. One of the orange rics has 3 mouths so I'm sure it'd be just fine.

Oh and do the microbubbles lessen when it breaks in? The water clarity has gone down since I put in the skimmer.

I also bought a 36" sunlight Tek light with 6 bulbs and individual reflectors. Hopefully the clam will be happy with that.

Re: My 46 Gallon Oceanic Bowfront

Threw in a couple peppermint shrimp today hoping they will eat what I think are aitpasia. All I've seen so far is them hiding in the cave. We'll see.

Also the "cured" live rock after a week of checking in the prep tank is definitely NOT cured. It looked pretty plain for cured rock... it's much more colorful now though.

Now you're just making me jealous. That exact fixture was recommended to me and I have been pestering my dad to get it so we can get nicer corals. So far no luck though.
Anyways, rics do ship pretty well and are REALLY easy to frag. You really don't have to worry about it right now though. Sometimes it gets so annoying because my dad has to approve anything I want to get or put in the tank and I'm the one who spends all the time on this awesome forum and it's stinks that I have to pass up all the cool corals for good prices. The microbubbles I am not sure about, but I do know that skimmers are supposed to do that.
And kill off those aiptasia, mine got out of control because I didn't know what it was because I had seen a picture of something that someone told me was aiptasia but it really wasn't. I coulda killed off the first one if I had known. Now there's no way to kill it except peppermint shrimp and mine that were supposed to be wild-caught are captive-bred and therefore ignore the aiptasia. Waste of 15 bucks, especially since my dad didn't take my advice in not just throwing them into the current after acclimating. 2 of them died of getting smashed against live rock. So make sure you kill it. Ignore my rambling, I just needed to vent.

Re: My 46 Gallon Oceanic Bowfront

Trust me my tank is nothing to be jealous of!!

I'm working on it though.

Got some green striped mushrooms. A rock covered with like 12 of them. And I have reason to believe that the peppermint shrimp discovered one of the aiptasia in the tank as it is strangley COMPLETELY gone all of a sudden. Light bulbs should be here soon and the rock hopefully will finish curing. (already cured yeah right. Liars.) Soon as this all comes together I might have a picture worth posting. Might be other stuff to mention, but oh well.

Re: My 46 Gallon Oceanic Bowfront

Oh yeah, water clarity has gone up considerably. Hasn't been this clear since the smaller tank. The Skimmer works VERY well. I had a cupfull of nasty water within an hour. had to adjust it and it's really gross.

Sounds like everything is going great. Funnily enough, I have some green striped shrooms in my tank too!

Re: My 46 Gallon Oceanic Bowfront

2 weeks later the "cured" rock is able to go in. Still waiting on the bulbs for the light fixture I ordered. Soon as I get them I'll have a pic.

Oh, and all the aiptasia is completely gone now.

New pics finally. Sorry for the sub-par pics, still only using the iPhone camera.

New Green stripes up front and the green coral getting it's color back after going on a month long trip around under the rocks.

Happier Clam:

Full Tank shot:

And just for fun: (test on nose and eye area of my custom Batman Mask for halloween... It will be blue latex not skin colored)

Re: My 46 Gallon Oceanic Bowfront

I Spotted 4 new aiptasia. 2 were on shells in the bottom of the tank and were easily removed. The other two I am waiting for my shrimp to do their job.

Re: My 46 Gallon Oceanic Bowfront

I am sure they will find them after dark when they venture out from their hidey holes, but if they don't, do consider killing the aiptasia with Joe's Juice so they can't spread.
