Re: Frankie's 120gal. glass experiment

Thanks Adam.

Well, i took some time out to clean up the bottom cabinet area and build a draw for it. It came out nice. the draw slides smooth and can handle up to 45lbs. perfect for storage. The draw glide is a bottom installation on a single glide. I faced it with that same material that the rest of the unit is made of and sanded 1/2" ply for the sides and back. The bottom is 1/4 pine ply rabbited into the box.

Re: Frankie's 120gal. glass experiment

Frankie,
I have to say you are by far a more organized reefer than I.
You should see the mess I made this weekend in my livingroom.
supplements, fish bags, bits of acrylic, plumbing parts.

Although, if I had a garage all that mess would be out there where it belongs.
Gotta love apartment living. lol

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Victor, just drill a hole through the wall to outside, run a pipe down to beside the apartment building, build your sump, put some cardboard boxes over it, leave enough room for a wire rack to hold stuff, and HEY, you'd be GOOD to GO!

Re: Frankie's 120gal. glass experiment

I can't even have potted plants outside w/o someone stealing them.
If I put my sump out there some jerk would probably pee in my pool.

Re: Frankie's 120gal. glass experiment

Thanks everyone!
Next is back to the wood work. I am going to get the doors to the side cabinet finished and the rest of the front wood. Then next week i ill be doing the left side. All the wood is on that side already, It just needs to be sanded and finished. I have also been working on a new Ca++ reactor. I'll get some pictures up when i am a little further into it. It's a dual chamber reactor to help raise the ph before it hits the tank.
Also my new chiller i got a year ago is crapping out. Big mistake listening to lfs advice! I feel like a dope for doing it. This chiller in no way can handle a system like mine. It's soposed to be the 1/3 HP slimline inline Aquarium Chillers - Prime aquarium chillers , Pacific Coast Chillers, Tradewind Chillers. but i am having my doubts now. I will try tearing into it before replacing to see if the freon is spent but i have little hopes. This chiller is just a piece of junk and i don't recommend them to anyone.

Yeah water and a mess don' mix imo. The cords are a bit messy actually. I was replacing some lights and haven't gotten to securing them just yet.

Re: Frankie's 120gal. glass experiment

I messed around with the chiller a bit and opened the flow up completely last night. It dropped th temp faster last night. I'll see what happens after the lights turn on today and burn for 8 hours. For the last two weeks it's been running constantly. this is the fist time it has turned off this long.

Re: Frankie's 120gal. glass experiment

No good. It runs less but still is running too long. I need to go back to 1hp like i had with the drop in chiller. I still have it but it's broke where the titanium coil meets the copper. It's fixable still i just need to focus on it. Soldering with solder didn't work last time. It wouldn't stick. I inquired with a welder and he told me i need to use silver for something like that and gave me a handful of sticks. I still have them so tonight i will try and do it again.
This would be a great time for Sas to pipe in!

Re: Frankie's 120gal. glass experiment

I wouldnt use silver solder for 2 reasons. 1 it contains a lot of copper and 2 the flux needed is a nasty nasty combination of acids, fluron etc and needs a sulfuric acid pickling solution to neutralize it, if you have a pic of what needs doing I probably can give you a better direction
