Re: I need More Space

This is my second year in college. I will keep this tank at my work, which is owned by my family, and right beside my house.

Re: I need More Space

Well, I think that I have decided on the lighting for my setup. Ive been looking at the PFo 400 Watt HQI Pendants. Im thinking about doing 4 of them.
Two with 20000K Bulbs and two with 10000K Bulbs. Then maybe adding a few t5 Actinics to the mix.

Any Suggestions.

Re: I need More Space

Well I have been looking at the filtration system that I am going to use on this new tank. I am working with Acrylicsumps.com on building me a custom sump. I am having the refugium build into the sump. It will sit ontop of the sump above the waterline. Water will pump into the refugium with a spray bar then flow back into the sump.
I know that the water flows into the sump via the plumbing from the holes drilled in the tank. Then through the sump into the main system pump into the skimmer then back into the tank? I need to know in what order everything comes. All pumps will be external, and the skimmer will be out of the sump. How many pumps will I need?
I am going to use the LifeReef skimmer. It comes with its owm pump.
I really need hekp laying this out.

Re: I need More Space

Well, my dad came to me last night and said that he would rather have the tank in our living room as opposed to our business. Well this means that I have to cut back on the size. Grrrrr!!!
So now I am getting a 180 tall. It is 72"long and 31" tall.
Well here is my list of Stuff that I need: Let me know what you think.

180 Gallon Reef Tank

Phase Two: Miscellaneous Materials
(Salt Mix, Heaters, Powerheads, Reef Chemicals)

Phase Three: Live Rock
(60lbs. Tonga Deep Water Show)
(60lbs. Lalo)

Phase Four: Live Rock
(36lbs. Tonga Ridge)
(24lbs. Tonga Branch)
(40lbs. Caribbean)

Pahse Five: Sand
(90lbs. Aragamax)
(80lbs. Florida Crushed Coral)
(120lbs. Special Grade Reef)
(80lbs. Caribbean Live Sand)

Phase Six: Clean Up Crew
(Cerith Snail X25)
(Nerite Snail X25)
(Margarita Snail X25)
(Super Tongan Nassarius Snail X20)
(Tiger Tail Cucumber X5)
(Tiger Striped Serpent Star X2)
(Sand Sifting Sea Star X4)
(Blue Linckia Sea Star X2)
(Tongan Fighting Conch X6)

Phase Seven: Fish
Working on Fish List

Phase Eight: Lighting

Re: I need More Space

Great planning.
Two comments though.
1. I would upgade to a bigger skimmer. I believe they have a good reputation but I have always heard to go for a skimmer rated for twice the water volume of the system.
2. Have you bought the light yet? If not send me a PM. I have a web site you should look at. It could save you a dollar or two but they are not a sponsor yet so I won't post a link.
