24 G Mystery Pod

On September 2, 2007 I became the owner of a little 24 gallon aquapod which was Lynn’s pony tank. This tank was originally going to be a pony tank for my daughter, but then she changed her mind so I decided not to do anything with this tank until I was sure of where it was going to go, what was going to go in it and when I was going to do it. Unfortunately that didn’t work that way. After I went to Lynn’s house and the pod was in my car we went to the LFS (mistake # 1) and one thing led to another and I saw this gorgeous piece of rock that I thought would look great in the tank and I had to have it, (mistake # 2) Well at this point there wasn’t any stopping what had been set forth in motion. You guessed the rest…well hold that rock for me because I don’t have any containers with me for water…Never fear the LFS has these 5 g. plastic bags for water and buckets the bags can fit in. Uhhh, no room in my car, unfortunately there was, dog gone it, normally can’t find a place to sit or a free spot to put anything because I haul a bunch of teenagers around. Shucks, just so happens that this week the car was at least a little bit straightened up. I knew I should have taken my other car, nothing goes in that one, lol! Oh well, too late now, my car suddenly became the traveling fish mobile. I had tank, water, cooler with little animals, brine shrimp, charcoal, sock, and one giant 18 lb piece of live rock.

Re: 24 G Mystery Pod

Oh you've been VERY bad! Looks like another tank chronical is due now

Way to go! Keep us posted and STAY AWAY from LFS!

Maybe we need a LFSAA group (LFS addicts).

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: 24 G Mystery Pod

I think we do need an LFSAA, I will be the first to join! lol...and yes now I have 2 chronicles going. The first chronicle has to sit for a little bit, maybe another day..just a lot of emotion going into that one. This chronicle is going to hav to wait until tomorrow at least because we are back to the school schedule now for the week, early early morning and then Vaxd therapy for me tomorrow daily for the rest of the month....

I was there cheering her on. It was a lot of fun spending somebody elses money for once.
Of course it's not like I left with an empty car either.
No club like that for me. LFS hopping is one of my favorite things to do. Specially now that I have Cat to go with me most of the time.

Re: 24 G Mystery Pod

Hey, it is her fault I got the 90 so we needed some sort of payback. I would have never been looking at the tanks except she wanted a nano. Somehow that turned into me getting the 90 and her getting my 24.
True double trouble we are.

Yeah, now imagine this same car loaded down with the 65 g, the stand, lights, salt, sand, wet/dry sump, power heads. chemicals, filter material and whatever else we got that night... now that I wish I had pictures of! We certainly packed it in.

Re: 24 G Mystery Pod

Now I am at home and thinking my son would be home and I would have some help getting this stuff into the house, think again, he had a hot date with a surf board or something, but anyway had to call a friend to come and take the stuff inside. That being done, I had no stand, didn’t know where it was going so it ended up on the bar for now. After having placed it there I decided I wanted it somewhere else, but wasn’t going to call my friend again to come over. I think they were already fed up with me when I said, “no put it here, no how about here, nope, I don’t like it there, oh , hmmm let me think about it for a minute, oh just put it on the bar for now until I get my stand, I have to break it down anyway,” …on the bar it went…”uhhh, it looks funny there, what about down on the very end? No, just put it back where it was, after all I am breaking it down when I get my stand.” No, I don’t think calling them again was an option! Boy somepeople just can’t take a joke nor do they know how to have fun. I tell ya! So anyway, I sat and looked at it for a bit, that 24 g staring at me, buckets of water sitting around, and an 18 lb piece of LR sitting next to it loudly screaming WATER, WATER. OK, so I guess I have to put some water in it and plop the rock in there until I get my stand. In goes some water, in goes the….oops, rock is a little big, …wiggle it around, turn it a little, in goes the …nope, not yet, wiggle and turn a little more, …yes, in goes the rock. The rock is just a tad bit too big for this tank! Don’t laugh ! It really is a gorgeous piece! Ask Lynn, she will testify to that! (Lynn, HELP! ) I really don’t want to cut this rock down so I briefly thought about exchanging rock in my 65 for this piece, but don’t want to cause a spike, *sigh* sure wish I had my 90! Well, I don’t so I will have to cut this rock in half and stand it on ends pointing up. That will look good, it is perfect on both ends to do that. I also have a few other ideas in the cut too so this isn’t the final decision yet. So now for the temporary unveiling of the 24 g Mystery…Don’t laugh at the rock! Drum roll please…Oh wait, that doesn’t happen yet does it? Ok we will save that for the official unveiling when stand arrives and tank is moved. Oh yeah and the official supervisor/helper, Muffin, is on deck also.

By the way, lil ol' me did that carpet and floor tile all by her lonesome, loved doing things like that when I was able, now it is a LOOOOOOONG SLOOOOOOW process for me and sometimes can't even do them, but I still try and pay for it later. Now, ty, ty, ty, ty very much... sheesh , I think I have lost it today.

Re: 24 G Mystery Pod

Hey Caitrina, how about leaving it on the bar and facing it out? Under the picture with the medals in it I mean. Is that too out of the way for you?

Love the rock!!!

Re: 24 G Mystery Pod

lol, another reef-capade!
Way to go Lynn. You hooked another one.
Cat, just train Muffin to fetch and haul. You can make her a load bearing cat.
A little saddle bag for her with tools in it.
If she's just going to get in the middle of things she might as well be useful.
