24 G Mystery Pod - Page 8

Well here are the opening yellow button polyps. Lynn, you have seen this piece in HR before. It was the happier of the two. Has been sitting in there for awhile so I decided to give it a home.

Michael, as much as I would like to take credit for the aquascaping, I can't. That is all Mother Nature's work. That is one rock, she built it, someone took it, it traveled to the LFS, I saw it, I bought it and plopped it right smack dab in the middle of the tank. Well, I did have to cut some of it off to make it fit and those pieces are in the overflow area and one is lying on the top of the main rock, so I guess I had a little bit of a hand in it.

There Craig, it is opening up pretty well. This was taken last night, haven't taken any today yet, in fact I am thinking of adjusting the flow because I don't think it likes a whole lot of flow and it is getting medium at this point.

Very nice. Yes I have debated that piece several times. Glad you had fun without me. I wish I could have gone. Nice to see you spent just as much money. Now you can't blame me when things jump in your car.

I know we are both bad. LOL

Well,looks like I am having a bloomin" bloom of brown algae. Hey Lynn, how old are the lights in there? Silly me should have bought new bulbs to begin with and changed them out, but

I didn't think about it. Anyway, I just moved 3 of my Big Mexican turbos into the pod from the 65 and they are happily busily cleaning away. I change about 2.5 to 3 gallons out each week. All my water tests really well, no different than when I had them test at the LFS. Actually got a compliment on my water last time...your water is never bad...now that it has cycled and you got it straightened out.

Anyway, I believe I need to change the bulbs and that will take care of my bloomin algae.

I wish I could build on this tank a little more, but have to wait now. I am also thinking ahead to when I have to leave my tanks for 5 days. OMG! I will be a nervous Nelly. Oh wait my name isn't Nelly. Ok, how is this, I will be as nervous as a cat under a rocking chair!

Are they brown diatoms? If so, they will dissipate as soon as the silicates are gone.

They are brown. The snails are really in there cleaning up. They are doing their job. Good snails....

Brown on the sand bed only, probably diatoms.

CAT either we had just replaced the bulbs or I have a set in my garage. I am pretty sure we had recently purchased some.

Today I put some snails in the 24. Got a Conch and some of those sand snails, sorry I can't think of the name of them right now.
