Re: 24 G Mystery Pod

No fair. Your blues look much better than mine do. The greens are finally starting to open but only one blue so far and I got mine first.
Glad to hear things are going well. Are we having a contest to see who can keep an empty tank the longest?

goldenmean: Oh Man! More pictures! What I really need to do is get busy on this thing sitting here empty, well except for the shark that swims through every so often. Thanks for reading the thread, this one is fun.

Craig, As always thanks for your encouragement.

Lynn: I don't know what's wrong with your blues. Where do you have them sitting? Remember we were talking about that up there, about the flow and everything. Well, mine isn't in direct flow. They are pretty much near the bottom of the tank. They are like the first level up from the SB.
My yellow ones that I liked so much that I got that stupid brown rock for haven't really opened and they are in a bit stronger flow, but yet the dumb brown ones are open???????? Go figure. They are probably behind me sticking their tongue out saying, who is the dumb one here?

Hey Andy, the pictures are up and where are you? Lagging behind...microchip time! Micro-chip with a little zapper in it. Bzzt...bzzzt, ROTFL

OK, I gotta go and get creative now, I said that awhile ago but got sidetracked.

Re: 24 G Mystery Pod

I started them on the ground and they weren't opening at all. I moved them to the top of the rock which is about halfway up the tank and almost exactly in the middle so they are between the powerheads. Since I moved them up most of the greens open but they are really small and I have seen one or two blues but I know there are more than that on the rock. I guess I'll just give them more time. Maybe they are just slow. Or I could put something next to them to slow the flow a bit. I may try that tonight. Maybe they are getting too much.

Re: 24 G Mystery Pod

I hope they open soon for you. Oh , an update on the yellow zoos..remember I said those brown ones were probably back there calling me dumb...hmmm, well a couple nights ago I saw something moving the candy cane around, but I couldn't see what it was, but the candy canes have been disappearing from being picked at. I moved the candy cane and there was nothing there. The zoos are kind of next to the cc. Well, I walked over to take a picture of the brown zoos right after I posted that dumb message and I saw something moving in the zoos. Saw a little arm picking at and around the zoos and moving around, but I couldn't see what it was. I kept watching and finally I saw it, a crab! A little brown black clawed crab. Grrrrrr! Well I got the rock out and then I couldn't see the crab anymore. Put it back in, there he was, got it out, gone again. Well, I got the tweezers so I could grab the little thing the next time I saw it. That didn't work. I dipped it, that didn't work. He was determined to stay in there. Well, after fighting with this thing for an hour, I took the easy way out and broke the rock up until the crab had no place to go. End of story, end of crab and lots of little zoo frags in the tank!

Re: 24 G Mystery Pod

Oh my. That does not sound like fun. There were 2 blues open yesterday so mine are slowly coming out.
Was this the big rock that you broke or another rock? I still have that big rock I bought last time in the sump of the 90. Just haven't taken the time to re-scape the 20 with it plus I am going to have to persuade my RBTA to move onto the new rock since the rock it is on is coming out. Oh what fun.

Re: 24 G Mystery Pod

This is that rock with the yellow and browns on that I conned him out of, the one I was having a real hard time buying because I was afraid the yellows would turn brown...

Re: 24 G Mystery Pod

OK, I got the first thing I am putting into the pod, actually I guess it really isn't the first, I really got the blues and other zoos for the pod. I just don't want to move them since they are liking it in the 65. Anyway, here it is,

A Black Bag!

It is acclimating right now, but this will be the first coral in the tank. I saw something today that I seriously thought about putting in this pod, a purple legged boxer shrimp. That was pretty cool, almost looked like a rooster and looked like it could do some real damage but to the best of my knowledge is reeef safe. Just looks mean. IT was cool. I should have taken a picture...grrrr.

Anyway the unveiling will be shortly, the bag has been sitting for awhile.

Re: 24 G Mystery Pod

Black bags are very fashionable in modern reef tanks! A boxer shrimp is a coral banded shrimp, did you find one with blue legs? Were you and Lynn terrorizing the LFSs today?

Re: 24 G Mystery Pod

Nope, Dr. S...this wasn't a coral banded shrimp so I bet my mind is messing with me again. This thing looked like a rooster with horns on it's head and it was big and fat and had purple legs. I know what cbs look like and this isn't one of them so maybe I am thinking he called it that and it was something else. Grrrr, I hate when I do that.

I had to terrorize the LFS all by myself today. Was fun, but would have been more fun had Lynn been there. Amazingly I still spent as much money...

Ok, so are you ready for the unveiling? This is picture 2 he isn't open yet...but he lost the black bag.

I like your aquascaping. I have a CBS that has a bright blue body, and light blue transparent legs.
