You have to read the slow thread 3x a day to keep up! wow Al, that is an impressive setup. I feel like you just started this project...

I put a mag 18 on my 90 gal last week - I do have a challenge with the corner bow so i designed this to allow flow from front to back and from all angles:

I also put a T and a ball valve in the SUMP just above the outlet of the pump. If I want to slow the flow to the tank, i just open the ball valve and divert some of the water from the pump, right back into the sump. In this way, I can fine tune the amount of water circulating...

TEchnically this project has b een in a planning stage for a long time (since April or maybe even March) but we've been paying off our total DEBT so it's hard to buy this stuff when we still had DEBT! Now we're much more "able" to do these things and are still "paying cash as we go" and are DONE with debt. That's why it's a "slow chronical". Just because I type a lot doesn't make the project any faster

Looks GREAT Drew. I really like the look of your set-up. Very impressive and good idea on the T & ball set up. Keep me posted and check back for updates on this one.

Ok I would REALLY like to get a pair of Koralias on this one... but I don't know what size RETURN pump to get.. how do I figure this?

I would look @ something along the Mag 18 volume as well

Those are great pumps I actuall run alot of them on tank I would suggest the smaller of them. I might have a good price on them as well I can check later today when I get to the shop & PM you

Jack I'll be running this on a 90g tank with a 29g sump giving me a total of approximately 119g (before rock & sand etc). Here's the "kicker". From the bottom of the sump to the top of the over flow in the display tank was roughly 65" (5 1/2') which will probably reduce the flow consdirably and I am also contemplating the SCWD Switching Current Water Director (SCWD) inside the tank which also "eats flow". Would you still opt for the smaller one? I was thinking I could use a larger one and NOT use a pair of power heads in the DT but I may be jumping ahead of myself there.

Correct you head will slow I would look in to this product as a alternative this product will give you alternating currents how you want them. I know Paul @ Ocenas motions well he is working on something that Vicki wants for the new 224 now.

Jack that's pretty darn SWEET but I'm confused as to HOW it actually works. Do I buy that instead of the PUMP we were talking about or is that the price of JUST the switching unit itself and independent of the pump.

Also right now I'm only planning to have "2" outlets (just in my head right now) how would I use this unit with only two outlets?

the unit actaull sits on top of you pump & provides you with 4 outlets instead of 2

The inside the "barrell" where you can see the holes is a drum thet rotates it send water out 2 ports @ a time to any location you have chosen

Thanks Doni. It's a culmination of lots of designing and a few "stolen" ideas from members here at RS. To be honest, it's much more massive and impressive in person. Especially when you see all the details in craftsmanship and construction. He takes such pride in his work that he makes every piece as if it was his own.
