Yeah he said my rent WILL go up because the property value just doubled I hope he's kidding..

Thanks Steve. It looks more impressive in person. My wife just walked into the living room after being in her office for a while and when it caught her eye she yelped and said, " Wow.. I just can't get over how BIG it is!" I just grinned and replied, "Yeah I get that ALL the time!"

Jack what did you find about the "newer" version(s) of the solaris.. is there a retro version? What about a less technical version without all the "Bells & Whistles" for those of us with a controller?

Re: BigAl's slow chronicle . . .

wow I missed a lot. This isn't that slow a chronicle.

AWESOME cabinet. Makes that 10 look like a toy, huh?

You got guts showing your landlord, did he quiz you about renters insurance? We live in my mother-in-law's house (she owns it, doesn't live here, I couldn't take THAT) and we're not sure how she's going to react to a 75. Hope you're friendly with him : )

Thanks kwb Yeah it doesn "Dwarf" the current tank a good deal. That's ok.. it will become a frag grow out tank eventually.

Oh the landlord is a near and dear friend (and neighbor). He was here all evening long anxious to see the new "furniture". He and his wife are very close friends and not really a landlord kind of guy.

Re: BigAl's slow chronicle . . .

Ok now that the stand is in the house it's time to start seriously researching more equipment. I think I have a lighting "solution" in the making just waiting to hear back on some quotes etc. I am going to either go with the Current t-5 8 bulb or a Solaris 250w system but it all boils down to pricing. That one will work itself out.

I need to think/talk pumps. I'll have a rubbermaid tub inside the stand for refugium duty to pull water from the sump into the fuge and then gravity feed back to the sump.

I need to think about the main return pump. what size to I need to be thinking for a 90g tank? also on the same note... I have a 1" output from the bulkhead into the tank. Right now I have some "loc-line" tubing into a "y". But I am thinking maybe I should do more of a SCWD unit and have it pulse back and forth. Maybe have it mounted inside the OverFlow and hidden somehow.

I am also thinking of a pair of powerheads IN the tank. I want to do with the Hydor Koralia (who doesn't right) but don't know how to know/decide on what size to get. They are kind of pricey to just buy some and "experiment" with them. Maybe a pair of #3's on opposite ends of the tank pointing towards each other.

I'm totally hoping to get some experienced feedback on the whole "flow/pump things here. I haven't had anything of this scale and need some input.

Re: BigAl's slow chronicle . . .

I think a mag 12 for in sump would be great combined with the SCWD. You could split each outlet also to have 4 entry port into the tank with lockline to direct the flow where you want it. That's how I've got my 75 set but with a mag 9.5. The Koralia 2's push 600 gph (x2=1200)so that would be a lot of water motion if that's what you're after.

Re: BigAl's slow chronicle . . .

Looks great, I sold my 150 gal. tank to guy here at work because it was just to big for our apartment and it was breaking my heart to see it just sitting there in the storage. So I did the right thing and sold it dirt cheap to someone that would put it to use. Of course now I regret selling since I am starting a reef tank but O' well.

Re: BigAl's slow chronicle . . .

Aww thanks Scott.... it was funny my landlord just couldn't get over it.. he kept running his hands over all the seams and joints. Then he opened it up and looked at the "structural" aspects and was in awed. He said," Man his HIDDEN carpentry is 100x better than most guys FINISHED work!" Made me very proud.

Yeah the nano is almost comical sitting there beside the new system.
