Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Just stopping by.
Looks like things are settling in nicely.
You are creating what could be very interresting colonies on those reef balls. I'll be curious to see them mature and fill in.

All I can figure is it's some form of Macro Algae or something. I looked all over last night and don't see a trace of it anywhere else. It just "sprouted" one day right there on the fringe of the power head. I'll probably take the PH out later this week and remove it and clean it good.

I was kind of hoping someone COULD identify it for me. Looks kinda cool though.

Wow...thats nothing like I had imagined. I pictured less corals....I like it....did you ever think about "bridging the gap" by connecting 2 of the reef towers with a branch or something?

Sweeeet! It's coming along nicely Al! Is that a Coral Beauty in the back ground in the first picture? Anyway, you are on your way to reeftopia, or an upgrade!

Less corals? nahh.... Yeah I've thought about it and even TRIED it but the "Bridge" piece was back ordered forever (Needs to be light weight for obvious reasons) and I opted to skip it. I may try something "creative" later on. Maybe a small acrylic rod with some of Sas's foamy making a bridge.. ? ? ?

Thanks Scott. Yes it's a Coral Beauty. So far he's been an outstanding "wet citizen". He's so cool darting in and out of the Reef Balls. When he's spooked he goes into the large one and just sticks his nose out a hole. Way cool. Reeftopia sounds good to me. No upgrades until I build the house. We've re-engineered our house plan to allow for a "Tank Room" and all to be "slab on grade" instead of having to fortify the structure. How CRAZY is that?!?!?!? Can you say INSANE?

I'll try to get the frag positioned to where I can get a clear shot of it shortly. Right now it's not "photogenic" at all.

Re: BigAl's slow chronicle . . .

Looks great Allen! That algae reminds me of bryopsis. Get it out quick and just the way you said. Remove the whole pump and scrub it off in the sink.
Keep up the great work buddy!
