| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: BigAl's slow chronicle . . . Thanks. I hope to have some final pictures in the next day or so. Then it's time to move it into it's long term location and have someone come over and start "shoring up" the foundation. Fun Fun Fun!! Well so far NO ONE carried 3/4 Loc-line here locally. I'm getting ready to call an Industrial Machine supply house because they use loc-line on machining equipment for coolant and such. Allen

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: BigAl's slow chronicle . . . Hey, that cabinet is a wood version of Oceanic's tech tank stands... they open on the side. And did you say the MONSTER tank is going in the Living Room? I take it you're not moving to Princeton... you're spending your money on the tanks and going for Camden...

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: BigAl's slow chronicle . . . Thank you both kathy and Scott Your kind words are appreciated. I have ran into a situation and I get different advice from everyone I talk to locally here and the problem is that few people locally are running anything like what I want to do.Some people are using Wet/Dry filter systems but no one really uses a refugium/sump set up. In fact, when I mention refugium here locally people are like, " What did he just call Me?" ![]() So here I go... My stand (main part) is 48" wide. The system came with a 29g sump tank that's 30" long. I want a refugium without a doubt but I also need room for an in-sump skimmer. I am insistent on a refugium because I have seen the benefits of one first hand in my first tank. The I could go with JUST a refugium in the stand but it requires much slower flow than a sump therefore I need something that can handle the total volume of my tank with sufficient flow. Here is what I am thinking... "T" off the drain line into a small custom built refugium tank that's slightly elevated to allow it to drain (via a bulkhead) into the main drain area of the existing 29g Sump tank along with the majority of the main line from the Display Tank. Is there any OTHER way of doing this? I dont want the skimmer to be IN my fuge and I also dont want to skip the SUMP due to the fuge being a slow flow item. Ideas? Suggestion? Donations? ![]()

| Torch coral ![]() | Re: BigAl's slow chronicle . . . You might consider doing a seperate refugium in your side cabinet or on top witha slow pump to it from the sump (giving more room for the skimmer) and draining to tank by gravity...or even a hang on the back fuge, similar to cpr one,but you could custom build one fairly easy with acrylic...or lots of companies may make some the right size, eg: ![]()

| Tridacna maxima | Re: BigAl's slow chronicle . . . Awesome cabinet- I worked as a high end cabinet maker for 6 yrs. and I know good work when I see it. A hang on fuge attached to the sump under the tank would be easiest IMO, then you don't have to worry about the flow in the sump, just pump what you want from the sump to the fuge!

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: BigAl's slow chronicle . . . thanks for your input! I may end up doing that.. a HOB on the sump itself might be a good idea. I need to find one that's HOB that's of sufficient size for my tank. I don't want to come up short in the FUGE department. Or I cold build an elevated platform beside the fuge on the "return end and make a similar design but instead of HOB it could be just sitting on the platform and have a pump pushing water into the fuge and gravity fed back to the return line. So many options..... What size would be suggested for a FUGE for this 90g setup... Allen ![]()
