I am confused...didn't bob end up dying (obviously not) and cause a spike in your tank? I swear I read that!! He is awsome, bob is my hero, a real trooper!

You did read that. I thought Bob had died because I had a nitrite spike and he was the only thing I couldn't account for. Then, like a month later..there he is! I don't know where he had been hiding and I still don't know what caused the spike. Bob IS supercool!

Do you mean this one..

That is Trixie the Scooter Dragonette. Again I don't know whether it's a guy or a girl. It's named in honor of our 19 year of collie/chow mix we lost last year. "She" doesn't like for me to have the camera out so she is telling me to "go away!" LOL.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Oh jeez, thanks for reminding me Scott.

YES!!! Congrats on the closings! Are you going to hire movers or are you recruiting friends with pickups? And what are you doing with your current tank? Will you keep it up and running until you get your new one setup?

We have friends with trucks and trailers. I'll leave the current tank here until I can build a temporary stand at the new house. Yeah, I'll keep it running til I get the new tank going then transfer everybody when the time is right.

Hey, I've been on Ebay looking for bargains and stuff and I just bid on and won a 300 mg/hr ozonizer for $20.50 +$10 shipping, so $30.50 for what looks like (and they said it was) new ozonizer. I guess now I have to get an ORP controller. My controller doesn't have that feature. Pretty cool stuff!

Re: Akwar'eum

OK guys....I'm going to throw an idea at you and see what you think.
In my new tank build I will have room to install Carlson Surge devices. Does anyone think that two devices, one on either end would be adequate flow in a 400+g aquarium. I think they could be built out of Brute trashcans, so that's what...30 gallons or so? My plan is to run 2000 gallons through the sump so that much flow would be going all the time. It just occured to me last night that instead of a closed loop system or powerheads, I could use surge devices but am unsure if they will be adequate by themselves. The devices could be set for different rates of flow. One could have a two inch outlet which would provide a fast, short surge like a wave, and the other could use a 1 1/2 outlet which would provide a slower, longer surge like a stray current. I'm really trying to make this thing as complicated as possible it sounds like,..doesn't it? I'm trying to get away from ugly powerheads in the tank, and I'd rather not drill holes for a CL if I can help it...SOOOOO, whachathink. The only thing I haven't figured out is the water level changes such as while the CSD's are filling, the tank is emptying, then water dumps in and fills it again, etc. So where do I put the top off sensor that wouldn't be constantly changing. Would the sump level change as well? Help me work this out!

Re: Akwar'eum

A surge device approximates the rythmic flow of the surf/tides.
