| Manta Ray | Re: Akwar'eum Thanks Craig! I would say it's the camera (and it IS part of it) but the first batch I took were just aweful so I went back and reshot using more care. They turned out much better.

We had a little trouble last night. There was a two loud explosions and our power went off a 2am. I guessed the transformer exploded and it would be a while before it was fixed so I went to crank the generator to keep the tank going ...and I couldn't get it CRANKED . So after a couple of fits, I tinker with the thing and deduce that it's not getting gas. A little more tinkering and one hour later I get it up and running . The power was off 'til 6:30am. I'm glad I got it going. Whew!

| Manta Ray | Re: Akwar'eum Yesterday was tank cleaning day. I equalized the makeup water chemistry to the tank water and changed 12 gallons in my 120g system. For six hours after that my fromia starfish didn't move a muscle. I thought I had killed him somehow. Then, almost as if waking up from a nap, he started slowly moving again and seems just fine this morning. I really like that guy and am glad I didn't kill him. On another note, I am having a dickens of a time keeping my ph up. It stays fairly constant though and that's good, but it goes between 7.9 and 8.1. My kalk tower is supposed to keep the ph up but hasn't been doing it lately (three weeks). It does have calcium hydroxide in it. I add the two part alk/calc supplement daily also. It's a little worrysome how it stays so low. If anyone can think of something to try let me know.

| Manta Ray | Re: Akwar'eum That is a possibility Terry, thanks. We have been keeping the door closed to the fish room for a while now. I'll try opening the door again and seeing if that helps.

| Manta Ray | Re: Akwar'eum I finally got my weekly photos posted. I've been showing a lot of coral shots lately so I thought I would post critter pics this time. Skunk cleaner on the Monti ![]() Another cleaner checking out the red star in the bottle ![]() Mandy is ready for his closeup ![]() so is Shrek! ![]() Group shot of Shrek, Scotty the scribble face rabbitfish, and Trixie the Scooter Dragonette ![]() Poised for dinnertime! ![]() Scotty lurking in the shadows ![]() Hope you enjoyed them. I think my PH monitor is actually reading low. I need to get some calibration solution. I checked th data log and the ph is very steady, reading 7.91-7.95 with occasional spikes to 8.1 when the kalk reactor is dosing kalkwasser.
