| Keeper of The List | Re: Akwar'eum Well, aren't you sweet! How's that sump muffler working today? John thinks it looks really cool. I printed out your "make it" process and we're definitely going to build one. Well, unless of course today everything went KAFLOOEY.

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Akwar'eum Doubtful. Guinness is much thicker and heavier then Coors. It might clog something...

| Golden Moray | Re: Akwar'eum The Coors is what I keep in the main refrigerator for my kids friends (21 & 22) to drink. I keep the NewCastle and the Killians Red in a fridge in the fish room. I was OUT!! So I had to make do with what was there. It was too early to break out the Jim Beam. It was a bit shocking how wimpy that beer was after drinking the good stuff... I used to loce Coors light.

| Golden Moray | Re: Akwar'eum I've been having some alkalinity trouble lately. Thing are much better today. My tests are as follows: Ca:415; Mag:1250; dKH:10; Temp:77.3; NH4:0; NO2:0; NO3:~0.03 PH: midnight:7.94; 4am:7.96; 8am:7.86; noon:7.96; 4pm:8.12 It was suggested that I have excess CO2 in the air/tank. I vented the air intake to my protein skimmer to the outside air. I opened the window to the tank room 1/4" and closed the door to the room. I thought the heat would get to high in there but the temp seems fine. The magnesium is low. I was told when I put seachem reefbuilder in the water that each Ca ion binds with one ion of magnesium and take it out of suspension (?), I think that's right. I think I want to do a water change and retest before trying to change anything again. Later that same day: OK..I did a 12 gallon water change, taking the time to scrub some bubble algae and spores out at the same time. I began a magnesium drip. Other notes of possible interest: My elegance has been getting large and the tentacles that were in the shade had started to shrink and bleach. I moved the Trachyphylia to where the clam was. Moved the clam up on the rock to the right but he kept falling off so I put him behind the gonipora. I moved the elegance into a large expanse of open sand where the brain was. Controller: I have my Aqua Jr. controller up and running and I understand it much better. My brain almost melted trying to get it going. It "is" controlling the korallia 3's but they pop for a while when they turn on but it's bearable. I love the way my temp stays put!!! 77 to 77.5, love it! A cool feature is the "data log" so I can check the PH history in one hour increments. Last night my PH was very stable. Vodka method: I have restarted the vodka method of nitrate reduction. Judging from yesterdays test it is working: 0.03 give or take, almost undetectable. I think that's all I've got at the moment. I'll try to get some pics of the changes later. Have a great day!

| Golden Moray | Re: Akwar'eum Yeah, they are NOW. My goodness, you should have been here for the alkalinity raising fiasco. I tried to make it happen to fast and it actually went down, which messed up my mag levels and my ph was all over the scale. I slowed the drip WAY,WAY down and things have leveled out nicely.
