NEW INVERTEBRATE!!!!!
We just got a GORGEOUS 2 inchish PURPLE reef lobster (even if it will be red when it grows up)!!!! When I saw it, for some reason I was thinking of Lynn, so I have decided it is a girl and her name is Lynn! Right now she is drip-acclimating. Plus we didn't have to pay for her because we took that Xenia/yellow polyp rock in and I haggled until I got $20 store credit for it. HURRAY!! She is really pretty. Did I mention that?

I just fed Lynn some frozen brine and she gobbled it up, so I know she's eating!

I just put her in the main tank after an hour of acclimation. She immediately hid in the back underneath a powerhead. She is kinda skittish but isn't freaking out too much.

I read that Hairy Reef Lobsters (what I think Lynn is) aren't real bad about eating fish, but I think we are going to keep her well fed because of our mandarin. All of our other fish are too active and big for the lobster to catch. I am still pretty sure the mandarin will be fine because he likes to bury himself in the sand at night.

Just my opinion but in the future I think you should acclimate inverts longer than that. They don't like quick parameter changes.

They are reefsafe but they only eat starfish so be prepared for that. Some folks use chocolate chips since their cheap, but you'll need a steady supply.

I have a pair of HS in my 100 gallon reef tank. They wil be moving over to my 240 when its ready. I love them they are so cool. But they will clean your tank out of all starfish. I have even seen mine try to eat my serpent stars. But they are very cool animals.

Hmm. So if a harlequin ate all the little white starfish in my tank (HUNDREDS OF THEM) then I should just chuck a reef-safe starfish in there, like a linkia? How fast would a harlequin eat it? Because I can't let the starfish decay and make my ammonia shoot up. I guess I could try to find a pair to eat it faster.
Greg, I will try and get a picture of Lynn for you! And I didn't acclimate her as long because I thought lobsters were hardier than other inverts. Thanks for the heads-up!

Still no sign of Lynn. I am hoping she will come out when she feels more comfortable in my tank.
P.S.
That little green sea slug either had a baby or came with a buddy, because now there are two of them, and they are both much larger than what the first was when I first saw it.
