...that is really very dangerous in a reef like your Melanie. in few days it would have killed all your crabs, snails and shrimps. Even if you would feed it very well, he everything would kill which him before the mouth comes.

Yep, Jack was right, Here come the questions. What is polystyrene? Is it moldable? I am using clay to build a scale model. but I was wondering what I could sculpt the main form from and then like you layer it with cememt. How old is your structure?

OK Vicky.... i hope you know Styropor or Styroflex ? That is the name in Europe for polystrene/polystrol. Unfortunately I do not know the exact designation in english. So now i got it .... it is called Styrofoam in english. One can work on Styrofoam completely easily. First with a cutter for the rough forms, for the finer structure then with a blowtorch.

The structure to be seen as in the picture is 2 1/2 year old.

I hope to have sufficiently answered your question thereby Vicky ? If you should have further questions…. OK Vicky, ask me. As far as I can with my bad English, I will answer.

You know, I like that idea, styrofoam. It is very easy to shape and mold. It is still part of the final piece, just layer with concrete, correct? I know that Garf using plastic shavings to make to rocks lighter. This would really decrease the weight. Did you glue the styrofoam together with anything in particular?

To receive a solid form you have to burn out nearly the whole Styrofoam
after you formed and cemented the front side. If you do not make that, the cement blocks get too much lift in the water. The individual blocks are very heavy (aprox. 40-50Kg), by the remainders of the Styrofoam in it have them however still very much lift. Around it in the aquarium to fasten I used aquarium silicone. As adhesive for the Styrofoam plates I used building foam. That is likewise innocuously and very easy to process. In addition it dries very fast.

more question Vicky ? ......... no problem, ask ! lol
