A microscope can be very helpful, for me it belongs to the "basic equipment" of a Reefer. It must be no expensive device; a microscope with 100 x enlargement is perfect enough. Then with it the different algae can be also distinguished very well.

Here the results are to be seen in two videos. 100 x anlarged and 400 x enlarged !
Do you have videos with cells of other fish diseases and how do you collect the cells for examination?

The information here and the photos on your website are top rated stuff Heinz, thanks!

Yes I have other videos of single cells, however also from cell heap. Unfortunately, I do not find them at the moment, however, she looks and if I have found them I show them also with pleasure here.

You have asked like I have collected the cells. Now, very simply, I have caught the affected fish with a cloche and have done a deduction of the affected skin places with the back of a scalpel. I have given the deduction on a glass bearer and then have done the film. Here one sees the microscopes in my office.

To make clear as helpfully good microscopes can be here still some pictures of plankton as well as from the Bryopsis alga, once the normal view of the algae and once a hair of this alga under the microscope.

Hummmhhh …. what do I do for a living? I would say, the normal life of a information scientist who gets up in the morning between 5-6 AM and goes mostly only at night between 1-2 AM in to his bed. So not the exciting. In the time between I am either in my office in Munich, or I work from my Home office .... or I am at many universities or leading companies in whole Europe .... really nothing the exciting. A life like many, many other also.

BTW most of the time I work in my office at home. This should interest other not really, however can know also quietly everybody.

An information scientist? I'm not familiar with that job. But it sounds much more fascinating that you give yourself credit for.

Yepp .... really .... tons of fun Donie Marie. And, in addition, in a lot of cases it can be very helpful, for example with limit from fish illnesses or problems with the water .... or, or, or...

Indeed, so a microscope is not always cheap, but very helpful.

Well when you see a fish with with spots all over the body and he's scratching on any surface he can find it's a good bet he's infected with Ich...

Amazing videos Heinz thanks for sharing ! How are you able to take photos from the microscope ?

Robert there you are right unquestionably. Only, THEN it is mostly already to help too late. I mean the people somewhere in the fish one or two little spots believe to recognise and then immediately shout " ICH"!

BTW I use a camera adaptor as on the office picture #424 are to be seen. The camera is a digital with one can also do videos.
