If it is, PM me how much they want for it. I know how much my lfs paid so you will know what you are dealing with. The stand is Oceanic as well but I am not certain if there are other models or not.

Re: Lynn's pony adventure

Thank you both for the compliments and good wishes.
Stocking it is going to be a while but I should be able to scape this weekend so I at least don't have a pile of rocks under water.
I am planning for the first seahorses to go in around the holidays. CUC earlier of course but even that I will wait about a month for. I am trying so very hard to take it slow on this tank.
Man it is super hard to do.

Beautiful set up Lynn! I hope Frank is excited about it now

Just think, if it wasn't for the kids bringing home hermit crabs from the beach a long time ago, you would have missed out on SOOO much fun

Re: Lynn's pony adventure

LOL
Ok short update and question. First of course here are some pics of my new box of rocks. There has been so much going on that all I could manage is to get the rocks in the water in the tank. I honestly have not touched it since.

There are some really nice pieces in there including lots of Tonga Branch that will become hitching posts some day.

I am hoping today is the day of the great aquascape. I want to empty the 24 and re-arrange everything in the other 3 tanks. I will be moving some of the nice purple rock from the 125 so it will hopefully seed the new rock but there are also some cool shapes in the new rock that would look greate in either the 125 or the 20. Even though this rock is cured I will be super careful with the 20 since the water volume is so small. The 125 I figure I can make more adjustmemts since it is a lot more established and a lot bigger but I will still be careful so I do not disrupt the filtration too much.
Meanwhile I am still trying to decide on substrate for the 90. This tank will have 4 pair of seahorses and one or two blue spot jawfish. I doubt the seahorses care but the jawfish surely will.
When we put up the 125 we used half sand and half CC. I hate the CC. Hubby loves it. So far it has stayed. What do you think about using a decent amount of the cc from the 125 as part of the substrate for the 90. It would certainly give the jawfish something a bit bigger to build with. I will still add sand and rubble and shells and such and obviouslu would need new/more sand in the 125.
Anybody have any ideas? We already have eggcrate under the rock and the tank will be covered with the pond netting somehow to prevent jumping but today I am thinking substrate and aquascape.

Re: Lynn's pony adventure

good Morning! so if the cc from the 125 is used what part do you use? skim off the top or dig for gold? The only wonder I would have is about the accumulated trates, are you thinking going right in or the clean and recycle route?

Re: Lynn's pony adventure

Hmm! Haven;t thought about how far to did down. I guess I was thinking about taking it from the top. I am not worried about a spike in the 90 since it just has rock. A spike in the 125 would be something to really aviid since that is where most everybody lives.
I was planning on just moving from the 125 to the 90 since ATM I am not concerned about trates there. It might even help to be sure it is well and cycled. I am planning to add the CUC in about a month and the real goodies will wait till ariound the holidays.

Re: Lynn's pony adventure

I cant recall ever seeing a study on substrate disruption, I suspect cc gathers and holds more decayed matter than the finer sand, mine is all cc and I'd be scared to disturb it, do you stir or vacuum yours?

Re: Lynn's pony adventure

Not much of either. It gets some stirring when we are algae cleaning and I try to syphon some during water changes but usually Frank won't let me. I am a bit concerned about they decayed matter but only on the 125. Since the 90 will be sitting with lr and skimmer for quite a time it should finish decaying there niecely.

Re: Lynn's pony adventure

That is going to look awesome! I know you posted earlier that you just put a pile of rock in the 90 and were thinking... is that last pic the aquascape? Looks like there's a lot of good swimmin' holes in there.
I really like that branch rock.

Re: Lynn's pony adventure

No it has not been scaped at all. Just kind of put in the water.
As always I have grand plans. I want to re-do the scape in the other two tanks ans scape this one at the same time. Swapping rocks along the way. Probably won't get to it this weekend since it is the twin's b-day but I am looking at the weekend after. I can do a nice WC both weeks and rearrange lots of things including perhaps substrate.
Can't make up my mind so that is part of the problem.
Oh and some of the rock with go in the fuge of the 125 and the fuge of the 90 so it should be a lot less cluttered.

Re: Lynn's pony adventure

Finally catching up on your multiple threads! If it were me I wouldn't disturb the sand bed in the 125, no telling what you might stir-up! If you're not having a nitrate issue in the 125, then you might want to leave the sand bed alone. It would be an interesting experiment to use all fine argonite in the 90 and compare it with the 125 as it starts to mature, see if there are any differences over time. Not too sure how the BS is going to like that. My Dotty has completely lined here burrow with shells and rocks to keep it from collapsing. I'm sure they will do the same with the argonite. Good luck! Macna is just around the corner!
