I am very glad for you, your family & friends, and RS that you did have to take an ealier flight. Enough about Bush! *#@!&^* Cool Discoveriy of the Day! I have two tiny mantis shrimp I see my little guy out and I go to get the camera so I can get a new pic for scubadrew. I come back and he is not out then I look to the left and there he is under a rock about 2 feet from where I just saw him. Damn, I missed a great pic opportunity. Then I look at his normal burrow and he is there too. I have two of them. I am not sure how big #2 is. I have not seen him out of his hole yet but from what I can see he is just as dark/black as #1. #1 appears to be a little bigger since I last saw him. #1 also has a second entrance on the same side of rock so he has mad a U shaped burrow. Plus there is another rock in front of his main rock and he has a burrow under the smaller rock. Its like a Mother-in-law apartment.

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: A 55G link in the Golden Chain Yea! Glad you're back, glad you had fun, although not getting into Canada like you originally planned sucks. Git them gorillas!!! (Or let the mantis' do it... are they big enough? And can I borrow one? I've got this ^$%# gorilla crab that, according to the reactions of some people here, is BIG.) More pics!!! : )

| Beautiful Katamari | Re: A 55G link in the Golden Chain Some new pics of the two mantis. Not very good as they are very small- no more than one inch long. Mantis #1 ![]() Meanwhile on the other end of the tank Mantis #2 make his first appearance for the camera. ![]() Although I kinda like Mantis #1 and Mantis #2 for names I think they need better. Any suggestions?? Heckle and Jeckle???

| Elegance coral | Re: A 55G link in the Golden Chain Richard sure does travel a lot! He must be making a killing on this rock! haha He mailed me pics of his trip to Thailand after he got back. Good thing its worth it. Keep an eye on the manti dude - mine has grown from what appeared to be an inch, to 1.5 maybe longer now. I'm not feeding him much, but I doubt they find plump shrimp kabobs very often in the wild. I'd be worried about what he could do to others in the tank at this size or larger. We've both documented a lot of rock excavation so far too - mines got a three entrance network of tunnels with room to turn around (he can be out in the sand, get spooked and shoot into his hole head first, turn around in the hole somehow, and poke his eyes out the same hole he went in a split second later.) I'm convinced he has digital cable in there also. Thanks for the pics, I hope my other elusive clicking sound in my DT is a black one . |

55g-acrylic-tank-planning-stages.html Post # 11 talks about the sump. Glass baffles were siliconed into place. Do not use acrylic baffles with a glass tank as the acrylic can expand and break the glass. You can get a lot of great sump ideas from this site too even though he makes his from acrylic Melevsreef.com | Acrylic Sumps & Refugiums Sumps are really easy to DIY. Just plan well first! First I had to find a tank to use as a sump that would fit under my stand. I used a 15g tall AGA tank Then I had to know what equipment I was going to use in the sump to determine if they would fit in it and also where to place the baffles to make sure they fit and worked at their maximum output.

| Beautiful Katamari | Re: A 55G link in the Golden Chain I added another Tunze Turbelle NanoStream Pump 6045 to the 55. Now I have two. One was doing a pretty good job but I wanted some more water movement. btw I bought the pump from RS Sponsor Premium Aquatics INC - live rock and aquarium supply I placed my order Tuesday late afternoon then I also ordered a new light for the nano about 9 hours later and asked them to combine the order. They were able to do that for me. UPS ground shipping and as they are in Indianapolis and I am in Chicago ground shipping = 1 day. Package arrived on Thursday. Even with shipping I saved $24 by buying from them rather than my LFS. I had stopped there on Tuesday to price them.
