NO! He took them last time he was here. Once the water is in and things are cooking, so to speak, I'll be VERY patient. I don't like waiting for other people, and I don't like when people tell me they'll do things and they don't do them when they say they will.

Okay, back to beautiful fish and clams. Thank you for your patience.

Re: A 55G link in the Golden Chain

The clams have been doing well - I think.
The other morning I woke up to find the larger crocea on his side and a herd of hermits chowding down on his byssus threads that the clam had released.
I uprighted the clam and took a shower and when I came back to check on him he was back on his side. He is trying to move. I try to think like a clam and it seems he does not like his location.
I figure it is the flow he does not like so I make some adjustment to the power heads. This seems to have appeased him. for now anyway He has reattached to the rock under the substrate.

My rock flower anemone has spent a couple of months on the substrate getting lots of light. The other day he decided to move around. He crawed right over the GSP and around the back and then hig up in the rock work . # days later he seems to have settled to a new spot. I like it.
He is looking very tan. He used to be the same light beige color. Since he has been tanning under the MH he is a nice black and tan.

Some pics of course.

Re: A 55G link in the Golden Chain

Sweet pictures.
I see the clams are both leaning to the right at the same degree. There is something attracting them. You cannot just think like a clam, you must BE the clam!
I would try moving them up and see if it's a lighting issue.
You said you have a slab of rock under the sand for them to attach to?

Re: A 55G link in the Golden Chain

Thanks Frankie
Yes there is some flat rock under the sand for them to attach too.
I noticed the leaning too and thought about the lighting but they are leaning away from the MH bulb that is closest to them.

I just bought the book, "Giant Clams in the Sea and the Aquarium" by James Fatheree. so I can learn to "BE the clam" I have some reading to do this weekend.

I was planning on moving them up onto the rock work but they have only been in the tank for 10 days and I wanted to give them some time to fully acclimate to the tank. That and I have read that many clam deaths are caused by the aquariast handling them too much so I am trying not to do that

Re: A 55G link in the Golden Chain

Your flower nem is looking great! It does have a nice dark tan. I looked after you mentioned your "swarm" of pods and there are bunches living in the sponges under my nem too. Every now and then it looks like he catches and eats one, but I guess that's a small price to pay for protection.

Re: A 55G link in the Golden Chain

After work yesterday I stopped at one of my LFS. This store usually has a lot of nice corals but currently he only has Saturday hours open to the public or by appointment. He mostly sets up and maintains tanks in businesses and homes.

Any way I come home with two SPS. One is a blue acro complete with the cutest lil acro crab.

The other coral I am unfamiliar with. The LFS gave me a name but I dont remember and I searched several hours last night looking for it on line last night and I could not find a similar coral. I could use some help IDing it please.

Re: A 55G link in the Golden Chain

Huhuuuuh cool clams Jeff, I still looking for a nice maxima for mine 115gal. They are simply wonderful.

BTW ... the second coral looking like a Hydnopora, maybe a Hydnophora grandis?
Is it one, the best you leave a lot of space to the next corals, they sting extremely. Hydnoporas, by the way, LPS corals.
