| Beautiful Katamari | Re: A 55G link in the Golden Chain This is actually the 2nd time I have captured an image of a Hermit moving to a new shell. This pic is from my nano taken in February 2006. This hermit moved went back and forth many rimes between the shells before finally staying in the new one. HERMITS ARE COOL!!

| Beautiful Katamari | Re: A 55G link in the Golden Chain So tonight the Mexican red leg hermit was checking out another empty shell in the same hood as last night. She is picky. She did not like it either and moved right back into her home. ![]() ![]() ![]() I have not mentioned it but I have caught 4 or 5 gorilla crabs since the last of the LR came in. Then this evening I see a big muther crab. I go in for the kill. . . . . Dang it is just a molt. Way too big for my liking. Then I see another - much smaller one. He moves behind a rock and gets away. But I wait . . . . . . and several minutes later he come back into striking range. The spear goes right throuh him. Bullseye! He is right by the flower anemone who is hanging upside down under an overhang. I give the anemone a nice little snack that he happily accepts. No sence wasting a crab. Besides Mantis #2's door is already shut for the night. Since i aquascaped I do not know where Mantis #1 is at. Mantis #3 is still in the sump. I gotta get him to a LFS.

| Beautiful Katamari | Re: A 55G link in the Golden Chain I have come across a new gorilla crab hunting technique using my bambo shish-ka-bob skewers. When i see a crab in a hole in the rock I put a small piece of fresh calamari on the skewer. When the skewer aproaches the hole the crabs tend to go deeper inside. But with the calamari on the skewer they are more likely to come back out into the open - just enough so I can spear them. I got two goriilas that way this eve. btw the hidden cup corals also really liked the squid. They gobbled it right up.

| Beautiful Katamari | Re: A 55G link in the Golden Chain Quote:
It is always Gorilla crab hunting season when your LR comes from TBS. But so worth it. There is so much going on with this rock that a little bad variety is worth it. Last night I did catch a look at something swimming that landed on the wavy looking orange sponge. It was really small but I could make out the two big dark eyes. I believe it was a cirolanid Isopod. I did get a large cirolanid in the filter of my return pump several weeks ago. Again this is one reason why I do not plan on adding any fish until at least after the first of the year.
