I think with the hob filter bio wheel he has its moving the surface enough. This is really a classic case of new tank syndrome and if he follows all the advice given, he will have a great tank in the coming months.
Be patient GeeWizzItsMe! Winter is coming and you are going to have a ton of time and people here on the net to get this tank rocking.

Yup, that's true. I didn't even think of that!!

I hope your tank gets better soon. Take it slow and don't add any more critters for a while.

Re: Yes! Everybody who likes new pics of a new tank

Just to update everybody! Panny(living clownfish) is swimming around normally! At least I think it is normal... I did a water change, and cleaned my filter, and got a powerhead, and got more live rock (which means you'll see some new scaping)! Also, the blood shrimp is out and about. Soon I will take water tests and stuff, so I will post those, and I PROMISE pics by the end of the day!

Here is Panny, who is now floating (unhealthy looking...). He hasn't eaten since I got him last week! When would he like to be fed?

Re: Yes! Everybody who likes new pics of a new tank

The aquascaping is the bomb! That shrimp is spectacular! I have two of them in my 90. They really add a lot of color. Mine will feed from the end of my plastic pipette. I suck mysis up into the pipette and slow release one or two pieces of mysis near the shrimp and he latches on to the end of the pipette lapping up the bounty. Sorry about Panny, I hope he starts eating soon.

Re: Yes! Everybody who likes new pics of a new tank

BTW, that level of nitrate is not going to affect your fish. Just keep doing weekly WCs to keep that nitrates below 20, but lower is always better. You may be over feeding in an attempt to get Panny to eat which may be a cause for your nitrates.

What was he eating at the lfs? I would feed that at least short term to get some food in him

Yeah, I think overfeeding is it. At the LFS they feed a mixture through a turkey baster... So they gave me samples of all the stuff the put in (brine shrimp, frozen mysis, and the frozen cubes I use), but she didn't eat any.

Re: Yes! Everybody who likes new pics of a new tank

This is a long shot, but have you tried live brine shrimp? I know they are not very nutritional, but they may stimulate a feeding response. Perhaps your LFS will sell you a cup of brine shrimp to try out.
