Triggerjays new 125g Build thread

I decided to start a new thread just for the 125g. I will start again at the beginning of this build, and document it to the best of my abilities... So here goes!:
Day one! the tank finally arrived! :

Getting started on the stand:

Stage one complete! almost...

Soon to be the black hole!:

How the tank is supported (there are three of these near the tank location):

More to come...

Re: Triggerjays new 125g Build thread

The black hole finally cut out:

In its final resting spot,... well almost. I still have to take it back off to drill the tank:

Stocking up on rock and sand:

More to come

Re: Triggerjays new 125g Build thread

The sump:

What do I do with all these?

The frag tank, sump, and my 2 55g drums for RO and pre mix SW. Need one more for Kalk:

The Ghetto Skimmer #2! :

And the lighting for the frag tank. 400w 6500k bulb for faster growth:

Thats about all I have for it right now. I am also changing out the frag tank to a 55g, and only filling it 1/2 way.. I found a good deal on one and am picking it up tomorrow...

More later...

Re: Triggerjays new 125g Build thread

I gotta get one of you guys on here to build my next stand....
Seriously looks great.

Any reason you are using metal screws on the protein skimmer instead of nylon?

Re: Triggerjays new 125g Build thread

yeah,.. they were free! lol.... They are stainless steel... I work in a bread factory, so nearly everything we use is stainless... They are 1/4-20 though, so I can change them out to nylon easy enough...I have been tossing the idea around of drilling two more holes in the skimmer, and making it a recirculating skimmer.. not sure yet though. Thanks for the compliments on the stand. I kind of copied it from a pic I saw on RC.. They stained theirs though.

Thanks again!

That stand turned out great! Curious why you didnt order the tank drilled? Not a huge deal but it will be covered under warranty if they do it. Look forward to seeing the rest of the build.

Re: Triggerjays new 125g Build thread

Quick question.... I was thinking of robbing 3 65w PC actinics from my 55g for the 125g. Would I be better suited to run two T5's instead? I am selling my 55g after the 125 is up and running,... so its not like I need them on it. which way would be better? or does it even matter? My MH bulbs are 14k,.. 2 175w, and 1 250w. Thanks

Re: Triggerjays new 125g Build thread

New update:
I got my return pump finally,... Not the sequence cuda I wanted, but the price was right. It is an Iwaki 100... Got a few things plumbed up this weekend. The 55g in the pics will become a frag tank, and the 40g breeder on the left of the sump will be mt fuge. The PVC line going straight up will go to the tank. :

To think.. a year ago I had a 29g sitting in the corner and it has come to this.. lol

Ok, Poked 6 65mm holes in it tonight, two for the CL, and 4 drains. I also installed my overflow box. Instead of the top to bottom overflow, I opted for the calfo style in case my fish decide they want in the overflow, they will be easy to get out. I also got my CL pump. It is a sequence reeflo dart. My overflow measures 30" long, 8" deep, and 6" wide. Hopefully, with luck, I will have water in and circulating by this next weekend. I already have all the basement stuff circulating. My total system volume, including the 55g fuge, and two 36" X 18" X 12" frag tanks, 100g sump, and 29g remote sand bed. With the amount of LR I have in the system, I am hoping for a quick cycle. I already have two frozen shrimp in the sump. I am starting to see the end of the setup! Been about 6 month's since I purchased the tank. I got 2 250W MH fixtures and ballasts last night for the frag tanks, a 4' fixture of NO flourescent lamps for the fuge, 2 175w MH and a 250w MH for the main display. Should the remote deep sand bed be lit as well? I think thats about all the new news for now. Thanks for all the compliments, and support in setting up this monster. I can't wait to see it full of life.
