Re: My new 75 gal. Upgrade

Well, this weekend I traveled out to Fish and Other Ichthy Stuff to get a Copper Banded Butterfly. They had several in stock, and they were all active and fairly plump. I confirmed that they were eating mysis shrimp, so I picked one out to take home.

While there, I also saw a Christmas/Ornate Wrasse (Halichoeres ornatissimus), which I decided I had to have. I asked the guy at the store about it, and it sounded pretty safe. The guys at this store seem pretty reliable, and it is an hour drive, so I was not going to go home, research, and return.

I also picked up a pack of Rod's Food while I was there.

I do not have any pictures yet, but both fish seem to be doing well. I fed the CBB yesterday, and it ate some mysis. The wrasse is also eating heartily. My tank is now probably bordering on overstocked.

Unhappy Re: My new 75 gal. Upgrade

The butterfly did not make it. It appeared healthy initially, even eating on the second day. However, when I got home yesterday, it was in the corner looking stressed. Later that night, it was laying on the bottom.

I am not sure what the cause was. I think the most likely culprit was acclimation, even though I took it slowly like I usually do. Perhaps a drip acclimation is called for with a CBB?

Re: My new 75 gal. Upgrade

Yesterday I got motivated, and I did some much needed maintenance. I cleaned all of my pumps and powerheads by soaking them in vinegar and scraping away the various stuff growing on them. It made a huge difference. Flow increased all around, and the skimmer went crazy. I will have to do a better job keeping up with the pump cleaning.

Re: My new 75 gal. Upgrade

Thanks. Most of them have split recently.

I am in Lakeland.

I am also way overdue for an update. It has been a few months, and I have changed quite a bit.
