Re: Lynn's 20g clown tank.

So far it looks excellent. It is way too early IMO to really know. Also realize this is on a 20g tank so it is very shallow and the RBTA has moved himself right up top. In fact it is out of water during water changes it is that high. If I were to do it again even on this size tank I would go with T5s that have individual reflectors or go with 2 fixtures instead of one. I may still decide to add another fixture just to be on the safe side.
Also keep in mine BTA are the least light intensive of the anemones. I would have never tried it with another kind.

Re: Lynn's 20g clown tank.

oh, i doubt they would be intense enough on a 5 gallon then.i am thinking i mightget a dual sateelite fixture from current-usa for my 55, my 55 measures 48"x21"x13".would the dual satellite be intense enough for anemones or should i supplement it with metal halides/

Re: Lynn's 20g clown tank.

Well it has been a long time since I have updated this thread so here I go. Everything is going well and the female clown is finally starting to accept the male. They even exhibited mating behavior last week and I was thrilled. Meanwhile I made a photo inventory of the tank. A couple of duplicates since I couldn't resist but here is the cast of characters from the 20g tank. All but the clowns and RBTA are there temporarily. The final will be just the clowns and the nem. I am just using the tank to hold a couple more fish until the 90 is ready.

Hope you enjoy.

Re: Lynn's 20g clown tank.

Well I made a bunch of changes last night. Don't have pics yet since everything was pretty aggrivated with me before bed last night.
I have been fighting the good fight with cyano in this tank for a while. I know what was allowing it to grow so I tried to address it. One thing was not enough flow. So, I took out the MJ550 and replaced it with a MJ1200. I am not sure if I am going to keep it this way or not. I have great water movement but I fear that it is just too much. The RBTA certainly got mad at me but I am going to give it a couple of days and see how it looks then. Also we moved the yellow watchman to the 90. It was always supposed to go there but had to wait for us to start stocking the 90. This is going to help a lot with my other problem which was overfeeding. This little guy just would not come out to eat until the clowns were done and Mrs clown is never done. I would put way to much food in the tank to be sure the watchman got some. So I decreased the bio-load and overfeeding in one shot. Also I took apart and cleaned everything and gave the sand a good stirring.
One good thing came out of it if nothing else. Mrs clown finally let Mr clown in her anemone for more than 5 minutes. They are both still there this morning and hopefully this is a sign of her finally accepting him instead of simply tolerating him.
I'll try to get pics up today even if things are still annoyed with me. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of the cyano.

Re: Lynn's 20g clown tank.

Well I did some rearranging last night and everybody seems to be happy. The RBTA goes back and forth between gorgeous and just ok so I think he will adjust just fine.
Meanwhile I finally get to see what I have been waiting months for.
Love is in the air in the 20g

I am so excited to see him allowed in the anemone. Hopefully they have finally paired up.

LOL
It is on the pass through between my kitchen and living room. About the only place left for a tank.

Haven't checked in for a long time, looks like the 20 has grown nicely!

Glad to see that the kids have grown up and are now in love! They look great in your RBTA.

Re: Lynn's 20g clown tank.

Well I am not sure what is going on with these guys now.
I did a very large water change last weekend trying to get rid of the cyano. This of course got the RBTA mad for 2 days and it looked horrible. It is back to it's beautiful self now but the female clown is barely tolerating the male again. He can only go in the edges of the anemone. I wish she would be nicer to him. Hopefully she will settle down in a few days.
