Re: Here We Go Again!

Thanks for the tip Octoman! I will have to try that out.

I had a really awful day at work today and I even cried. I hate crying! I try to limit myself to one or two cries a year. I almost quit and went to work at my LFS! It's great to be home and on with my fun RS friends. I'm finally starting to relax.

I'm sorry Mel! I hate days like that! Everyone has them though, and you just have to try to remember that things could probably be worse and they will get better!

I would give you karma to make you feel better, but rest knowing that I'm thinking about you. Crying is actually good for you. It releases endorphins that make you feel better.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: Here We Go Again!

You guys are great! Thanks for all the smiles and nice wishes.

I keep telling myself that all offices have the same problems and some are worse than others. Most of the time mine is wonderful and maybe I overreacted.

Re: Here We Go Again!

Today was clean the tank day again and boy was it eventful! I seriously think I am the poster child for what NOT to do with your tank.

Everything started out well. I used surgical gloves this time and did a nice thorough glass cleaning, sponge cleaning, 5 gal. water change, rinsed my carbon/phosguard, cleaned my UV light sleeve, cleaned the skimmer cup.

I can't locate the safety part of my hydor koralia. It blew off and I can only find part of it. The little guard is missing somewhere in the tank.

I pulled a little hair algae and now I'm lights out. I discovered that if I do that, it doesn't come back as quickly. Pull, then lights out for 24 hours.

Well, just when I thought I was done, I see a puddle in front of the tank. What the ????? Well, I didn't properly reseal my UV and it was pumping water all over the floor behind the tank and it seepd out front. Without thinking, I reached back there to hand tighten it. You know the warning labels all over it...and the box....and the instructions? What does it say? "Unplug unit before any maintenance." This includes tightening the seal. I got a HUGE shock that I still feel all the way up into my shoulder. Ouch ouch ouch. Wet hands on electral devices....jeez.

So, now that you've heard about my adventure this morning, I will post some photos I took.

Re: Here We Go Again!

Sorry about the shock. I came so close to electrocuting myself on day that hubby came home and made the tank "Lynn proof" I just react instead of thinking of my own safety. (I was trying to get a fish out of the overflow and made a series of bad decisions. LOL)
Anyway glad it wasn't too bad and sorry work was crappy. At least you have the weekend to get over it and can start fresh on Monday knowing you will have a suprise on Tuesday. I did your frag today so all I have to do is manage to get it out of the tank and packaged up Monday. I'll leave it open during work so it can gete oxygen before I close it up for shipping. I think I am more excited about sending this package than you will be to receive it.
Keep smiling.

Re: Here We Go Again!

Today's Test Results (7:30 PM) - Lights out all day
Temp 78
pH 8.4
Sg 1.025
Phos. 0
Nitrate 0
Ammon. 0
Nitrite 0
Ca 360
dKH 6
Mg 1170

Since my Ca is low I added 1 tsp Red Sea Success Calcium +3. (Mixed with a cup of fresh water and trickled into sump.) Tomorrow morning I will add some Mg and retest tomorrow night.

I'm beginning to think Tropic Marin Pro Reef was the better salt. I've been low in Mg and Ca since I switched to Instant Ocean and then Reef Crystals. Hmmmmm.
