I think he was actually trying to eat something. Doesn't he look mean on close up shots? He's not though. He's gentle and sweet.

Re: Here We Go Again!

I was gonna ask Melanie, did you go to a photography class?
Your pics have jumped up a notch.
You've got skill.

People come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: Here We Go Again!

Awww, guys....you are going to swell my head! No, I haven't taken a photography class. I got a new camera and I'm testing out different settings and stuff. I took about a hundred photos and picked the best ones then cropped them to make them look even better. My next goal is to get the white balance just right so my colors look truer.

My little royal gramma is so photogenic!

Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!!

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: Here We Go Again!

Oh! Before I forget...no cyano in two days! I think I have figured out the culprit. I used an algae based food I had never used before. No one in the tank was interested and it probably caused the bloom. Siphoning, cleaning the sand, cleaning all the walls and powerheads, adding phosguard, switching out the lights, doing a water change, and going lights out for 24 hours seems to have done the trick. I will not use that food again!

Re: Here We Go Again!

Wooooohoooooo! Great news on the cyano! Cyano is truly a reefers friend as it tells the tale accumulates and when you siphon, exports permenantly!

Your Gramms looks very heathy!

Awesome pics Mel! Try using a white coffee filter under the tank lights to dial the white balance in.
