Re: Here We Go Again!

Thanks for asking Craig. I felt bad for about 2 hours and I just laid down and rested. Then I felt better and back to normal not long after than.

You know, someone made an observation that some people are more allergic to toxins than others. I realized that I'm allergic to bees, wasps, and spiders and have to go to the hospital if I get stung. Maybe I'm ultra sensitive to toxin.

I'll check out the round robin thread now.

Re: Here We Go Again!

That's VERY true Mel! I too am allergic to those lovely creatures and I am MUCH more "reactive" to other coral stings (FrogSpawn, Torch and Hammer). I say we call this one LUCKY and not risk it again. You feel similar you go see someone or call someone to take you. Don't make me come down there

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: Here We Go Again!

Always wear gloves Al/Mel, you are more inclined to anaphylactic shock by coral neurotoxins. Soft corals are the worst!

Glad to hear you're better, Melanie. My brother is allergic to shellfish and he LOVES it. Idiot has put himself in teh hospital on purpose a couple of times.

Re: Here We Go Again!

I managed to catch a quick glimpse of my skunk cleaner shrimp. Glad to see he's alive and kicking, but I'm ready for him to come out and prance around and clean my fish!

I didn't do my water tests last weekend and I'm kicking myself. First week I have missed. It was also important because I've added another fish and I also should be monitoring my Mg because it seems to get used up quickly.

My RS Friend Frag project is coming along great! I received three more frags recently. Here are photos of the exquisite trumpet coral Kathy with Birds sent me:

I will post photos of the ones I received from Gee Whiz Its Me and TriggerJay when they open fully.

Just say the shrimp jumped in your car and you had no choice.
That is how Cat and I justify it when we go to the lfs.

My skunk cleaner shrimp will disappar for a few days when he molts.
Perhaps that is why yours went into hiding. Otherwise mine is out and about all the time unlike the peppermint shrimp which is more docturnal unless it is feeding time.

Re: Here We Go Again!

Looks really good. Melanie I will agree with you 100% you never know whatyou reaction to toxins will be until it is to late. I know I wear gloves all the time in the tanks & evrytime I have to reach into one of the really deep ones that might get water into my long gloves I get a reaction one way or another. Sometimes it is worse than others. I keep benedyl on hand regualry

Re: Here We Go Again!

Christopher, please feel free to copy me in any way. I think imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and I'm happy to share ideas. You could have your own RS Friend Frag project too! (Although I'm sure you're sick of hearing it...be sure to always check with your dad first before sharing your address. I know you are careful.) You know, I'm cautious as well about giving out my address and I'm 34 years old! =O)

Glad to know I'm not the only one Jack! And you're a big burly man so I don't feel so silly about getting sick over a little zoa grabhandling.

Goldenmean, you're right! It will eventually be a true testimony to RS! I also got to thinking how nice it will be to have a piece of all of your tanks, and if god-forbid, something bad were to happen to a friend's tank, I could give them back part of their original reef! Makes me feel an even greater responsibility to keep my tank happy and healthy.

Re: Here We Go Again!

Some new photos I took today. I finally got a clear shot of Clownie and I will keep working at it until I can get a perfect photo of him.
