Re: Here We Go Again!

Well, I'd love to post pics of the little scarlet skunk cleaner shimp I got on Saturday, but he disappeared as soon as he hit the tank and I've never seen him since. I did a one-hour acclimation and put him in right after lights-out. He went behind the rocks and into the twilight zone.

I had intended to keep a close eye on him because of my coral banded shrimp. He is very territorial and I placed Skunk on the left side (CBS likes the right side best.) My intention is to get 3 Skunks total, but I wanted to see if one would make it past Killer.

Oh, and I did a 10 gal. water change and cleaned the tank. I also pulled and scubbed as much hair algae as I could find. I didn't do my water tests because I didn't feel well. I had grabbed a group of zoas with my bare hands and 20 min. later got a tingling sensation in my hand, tightness in my chest, dizzyness, and numbness in my face. I'm going to look for the disposable type aqua gloves. I really hate the big rubber aquagloves I have now and never use them.

Hello Melanie,

Skunck cleaner you are keeping best as a pair or maybe two pairs. These are at least my experiences. If I have maintained 3 or 5, one of them died mostly fast.

Re: Here We Go Again!

Mell totally missed the asnaphylactic shock episode you encountered. An antihystimine help help, but gloves are better!

Re: Here We Go Again!

I wondered who would remind me of that! I almost didn't post it. I made all kinds of justifications to myself to get the skunk. None of which are really valid. I just need to stay away from the store. I only went in to get my bulbs which WERE on my self-allowed list. But they were out of bulbs in my size so I .... well you get the picture. I would be better off buying the bulbs on-line so I'm not tempted into getting livestock or corals.

Re: Here We Go Again!

Christopher, a couple of days ago I said I wasn't going to buy any more stuff for my tank (livestock or coral) until after Christmas. I would only let myself get the bare neccessities (like the bulbs.) I even said you guys could yell at me in all caps if I posted I bought something. Not even a week went by and I bought the shrimp. He seemed neccessary at the time.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
