Re: Here We Go Again!

Go get the 90. You don't have to set it up yet.
If it is a good deal then you can just get the tank and wait to add your 3 fishies to it. By the time you are ready to get it set up you will have your maintenance down to the easy level and then you can set up the new tank.

Re: Here We Go Again!

Yeah you should take that deal! I have a deal around here from a club member who has a set-up 125 gallon for only 250$!!! I am trying to force my dad to buy it for me! It has everything but good lights and a good protein skimmer (it needs more fish, corals, and live rock though)!

Re: Here We Go Again!

Thank you Dentoid and Goldenmean! Extra thanks for the Karma too.

Christopher, that "rare brain" arrived in a bag that was nearly empty...leaked all over. It stunk like rotten fish and was half-dead. I'm trying to nurse it back to health but it may be a losing battle. It doesn't look a THING like the photo on-line either.

Thanks for the ID Anselth.

------------------

Ok, here are the promised test results and photos of the "plumbing" work I did under the tank.

Temp 78
SG 1.0265 (slowly trying to lower it to 1.025)
Mg 1290 (learned to read the test results correctly)
Nitrate 0
pH 8.3
Nitrite 0
Ammon. 0
Phos 0
Ca 480 (getting better!)
dKH 10/179 ppm KH

Here is the underbelly of my tank "before."

Here it is "after."

It was getting too crowded in there so I completely removed the wet/dry portion. I replaced it with 2 ft. of PVC overflowing directly into the sump. I used a T splitter to hook up a UV sterilizer and the carbon reactor to one small pump. They both require slow flow and this worked out really well. You can't see the UV because it is between the sump and the fuge. It overflows into the sump on the left. Another thing you can't really see is I replaced a valve on the return pump because the tubing kept slipping off and spraying water everywhere. I used the "barbed" connector which is a much snugger and drip proof seal.

I also moved some stuff around so I'd have easier access to the skimmer.

Last but not least, I managed to find a way to NOT have a daisy chain of power strips. Took some doing, but there is only ONE power strip per outlet now.

All of that (and the 10 gal. water change and tank cleaning) took about 8 hours yesterday. (with breaks included.) Whew, I was tired!

Re: Here We Go Again!

Heinz and I will both tel you not to put a trigger with a lionfish. Believe it or not the puffer will tear up the lionfish's fins.

I've got my 210 back from the glass shop and have braced it (I'll try to get some pics up later) and my winter project will be to convert the 110 to a FO tank. Fish to be a Volitan Lion, Snowflake Eel, Magestic Angel, and possibly a Tang.

Re: Here We Go Again!

Well, it was just in the dream phase since I am 99% sure I'm not getting another tank for a LONG time. That stinks I can't keep them together. I just love both of those fish so much and neither can go in my reef tank.

Re: Here We Go Again!

I'm having so much fun with my new camera! I found out how to take a crystal clear photo with the camera less than 1" away from the subject! WOW! Anyway, while I was playing tonight I took a photo with the moon light on. I haven't shown you guys any like that yet. You can see the bright flourescent spot in the lower right is an orange ricordia and above it is a colony of zoas that stays open most of the night since I added the LED.

Re: Here We Go Again!

Melanie it looks great my only suggestion would be if those drive a rios have a backup drive ready. The fail quiet often I had several fail in the last moth & I lost things that would make most cry. I almost did

Re: Here We Go Again!

Thanks Al and Jack!

I do have a back up pump and fortunately (knock on wood) I have had wonderful experience with the Rio. I <3 it!

I'm not getting a lion, tiger, trigger, or puffer. It was just a dream for a non-existant tank. I like my reef tank as is and love my little inverts and peaceful fish so much!
