Re: Here We Go Again!

You can add a few more inches it looks like! (You know what that means to me!) Also, great buy on the full grown tank-bred goby! I can't wait to see it in the DT!

Yes, Christopher, I ALMOST wrote, "Christopher would say I have room for a friend for my clown!"

I got a leak in my fuge so I had to pull it out. I'll have to seal it up tomorrow. Since it was out from behind the tank, I took that opportunity to take a couple of photos. You guys didn't get to see it before I hooked it up!

Re: Here We Go Again!

Jeez, I just realized my chaeto is going CRAZY! I need to prune it already. Dang. I'll put another wad in my QT since I can't seem to get the nitrates down in there. I added about 2 more lbs. of LR and keep doing my weekly water changes. I'm up to about 10 lbs. of LR in there. It's not the best LR, it was my rejects for the DT. I still have about 50 lbs.? in yet another tank just curing curing curing.

Re: Here We Go Again!

I suppose it had to happen. My new fish, the blue neon goby, has ich. Fortunately he is in the QT and I will keep you all posted on his treatment and health. I started another thread with these photos and I'll continue here.

This is the QT when it had the royal gramma in it.

OMG, something just occured to me. I used the same turkey baster (only rinsed in between) on the DT and QT. Jeez. I know better than that. Now I will need to watch everything super closely to make sure I didn't tranfer any of the cryptocaryon irritans into the DT. I'm SO MAD at myself! I have been meaning to get a second turkey baster but I was just being lazy.

Re: Here We Go Again!

Whew. I just remembered that I used the turkey baster BEFORE I put the infected goby in the tank. Thank GOODNESS! Bullet dodged. But I will use this close call to make sure I have a dedicated set of equipment for my QT. It is not worth the anxiety to save a few dollars.

Re: Here We Go Again!

That ick must have come from the LFS. You didn't have ick in the QT before the Neon! Unfortunately the QT is now infected. The ick parasite lives in the rock and the sand bed. It's time to remove the LR and put it in a bucket with an airstone and let it sit there for 6-8 weeks and treat the QT with hyposalinity. Oh heck, you know what you are doing! Sorry about your trouble.

Re: Here We Go Again!

Thanks so much Dentoid. I'm researching different treatments right now before I make any decision.

Yeah, I am sure the ich came in on the fish. The fish in my DT are all disease-free. Like I mentioned in my other thread, it's a blessing it is on one of the last fish I want anyway and I made the very wise decision to use a QT thanks to DaveK.

Re: Here We Go Again!

Sorry to hear about your new baby!

Even though I have separate equipment for my tanks, I still rinse everything in tap water after I use it and let it dry. That way I have a litte extra insurance should I accidently use it in the wrong tank.

Scott, that was a good idea about removing stuff from the QT so the next fish doesn't end up sick too.

It is great that you QTed him before putting him in the DT! Good luck, and I know you will pull through!

Re: Here We Go Again!

Hey, hey keep cool .... not every spot on an fish is Ick. That can be also Odinium, that is many more harmless than Ick and very simply to treat. give 1 or 2 drops Lipovit and some drops garlic juice on the fodder. It helps both with Odinium and with Ick. If you have a UV-C lamp I these now would activate even if it work not immediately. After few days your tank is free from Odinium and Ick exciters.
