Re: Here We Go Again!

I was just playing. Yes there is definitely knowledge there as well and I have been known to stop in if I am researching a specific topic.
RS is home however. But I just had to play a bit with that specific typo.

Yea, that's what it was, I always was bad at punctuation. Thanks for the editing Scott.

Re: Here We Go Again!

You guys are too funny.

I am thrilled to announce that Clownie seems perfectly happy in his new place in the DT. I'm sure it helped that I used the same salt water mix, same temp, etc. He and firefish don't seem to acknowledge one another which is great because there is absolutely no aggression. Both seem content because firefish has his hidey-hole when wanted and clownie, the big oaf, is content just wiggling around out in the open.

The Royal Gramma is now in the QT and hiding. He had a one hour drip acclimation procedure and immediately went behind the rocks. I have only seen a glimpse of his tail once since then (this morning when I fed.) When he comes out and about I'll get some photos of him as well.

Here are some shots I took this morning. Clownie is too fast to photograph but I'll post a video of him if you guys don't make fun of my scratchy morning voice and microbubbles.

Some extra shots I took....

Finger Leather is plumping up finally!

Check out the gorgeous red corraline that is growing...(I also have mint green, pink, orange, and purple!)

Re: Here We Go Again!

Congratulation Melanie, a really nice reef. This kind of firefish should be a good jumper, could you do some experiences?

Re: Here We Go Again!

Thank you HMA! Yes, I have read he is a jumper. So far I haven't had him jump out. I did have a top on the tank, but I removed the glass top and the canopy to allow for air circulation. I am currently trying to think of a way to modify my canopy so it doesn't block the light fans. I hate to destroy a beautiful top though.

On a side note, I screamed every curse word this morning. Because I am mixing up my water for a change tomorrow and I was wiping down the wall behind the bucket with a rag that had cleaning product on it. It touched the water, so I had to dump the bucket (10 gal.) THEN I rinsed and filled it again with water and salt and used my cleaning product tainted hand to put the pump in. So I had to dump it AGAIN! Plus, I am getting low on salt. I am so mad at myself. I had to take a break and finish straightening up the house THEN do the fish stuff. Not do both concurrently.

Re: Here We Go Again!

Here is a video I took this morning. No making fun of me!

YouTube - My Tank This Morning

PS, If you had my set up, what corals would you add in the future? Look at my entire layout for looks and also equipment. (I just bought a phosban reactor to run carbon but it's not hooked up yet.) Here are some I am considering (if my tank keeps doing well.)

Pipe Organ Coral
Green sea mat
Ricordia - super neon green
Red bullseye mushroom
Ricordia mushroom blue
Toadstool mushroom leather
Green flourescent mushroom
Red mushroom
Elegance coral
Candy cane coral
Plate coral short tentacle
Bubble coral white, green, or pearl
Brain coral favites
Scolymia Button Coral
Blastomussa Coral

Re: Here We Go Again!

I'd add some shrooms and maybe a ric or two next. I'd stay away from the plate and elegance. Others to consider are frogspawn, hammer, anchor, and torch. Of course always do your additions one or two at a time.

Re: Here We Go Again!

I don't want any more LR and I'm hoping to find some stuff that will spread and cover the LR I have now plus some tall things to add dimension. Not to mention COLOR! I am so over pink and purple. I want to puke when I see pale pink and bright purple. lol lol. Oh, and I'm over brown too. Bring on the rainbow!

Re: Here We Go Again!

Yay! That is how I think of it, too, but hammer and torch moves around, and it almost glitters. It is really cool. Just sayin...

Re: Here We Go Again!

OMG, you guys will not believe the OTHER stupid thing I did. [Kicks self.] I realized this morning that I have only been using HALF of my lights for a few WEEKS! I went to turn off my lights manually (I have them on a timer) and I flipped the second set ON. So, now about 4 hours after having all lights on, my corals are getting HUGE and gorgeous! I have never seen my green starburst polyp this large and I could swear my Xenia have doubled in size. Plus ALL of the zoas are expanded, where before only about 3/4 came out.

Because of the small "bad luck", that passed us all already once. ... as long as one can buy enough salt .... no problem!

by the way .... nice video Melanie.
