Re: STT to VT

My ammonia is the same.
I am going to follow TBS experienced advice.
Make sure you test twice a day

If you do a water change now you sill be prolonging the cycle.
Above 1ppm ammonia is harmfull to the life on the rocks which is why you want to do a water change then.

Re: STT to VT

Yeah hold off a little while on the water change. Honestly I would wait until you test zero ammonia and nitrite. I don't anticipate your ammonia reaching dangerous levels since you already have a decent bacteria colony established. Just keep testing. You must be excited to start adding critters!

Re: STT to VT

Changed about 25 gallons of water tonight due to a solid 1.0 ammonia reading.

Glad I'm not buying RO water from the pet store!

Re-tested after water change and have a <.25 but not 0ppm on ammonia now.

Exhausted.

Re: STT to VT

Full tank shots are w/ 1x 400w 10K MH so everything looks bleached out. The close ups show the color better. I spread the rock around and will aquascape once cycle is complete.

Re: STT to VT

I think I fixed the images...

I think that is Aiptasia - will do some reading on how to take care of that little guy tonight.

New crabs and snails are all doing well so far. Hoping they will clean things up a bit.

Ammonia - 0.5ppm

Re: STT to VT

Looks Great!
The TBS rock is awesome.

I didnt notice any Aiptasia in any of those pics.
If you do have some - Joe's Juice is the easiest method to get rid of them
.
Peppermint shrimp may or may not eat it.
I have a pepermint shrimp in my nano and he does eventaully take care of them but not always as fast as I like. I think it depends on how much other goodies he can find to eat.

Re: STT to VT

Looks great! This is nothing compared to what it will look like in a couple of months. I didn't see any Aiptasia in the pictures either. The species of Aiptasia that come from the Gulf of Mexico are harmless and do not spread like its pacific counterparts. If you want it gone, introduce a peppermint shrimp or two. I had one with my TBS rock and it got eaten after I added my CUC. I was bummed because it was a beautiful purple/green rock anemone.
