Re: DrHank's Tank's

Yes Kathy, Seahorse handles! They look like this:
[IMG][/IMG]

special ordered them at Lowes and they shipped them directly to the house.

Melanie this is similar to what you can do with a 10 gallon tank under the stand:

[IMG][/IMG]

My fuge happens to be 29 gallons but you can do it easily with a 10 gallon (what mine was on my 110 gal) and put it under one side of your tank. This leaves room for the sump:

[IMG][/IMG]

on the other side. Similar to the way it is in this set up. The difference is that your tank is half the length of mine so your sump and fuge will be smaller. You'll have the skimmer in the sump like this:

[IMG][/IMG]

Of course it will be smaller (I needed a beast to do 210 gallons +).

And finally for Scott. Sorry I didn't have a wide angle lens but I stood back in the den as far as I could to get a shot of the full front of the tank.

[IMG][/IMG]

Sorry, I forgot to close the cabinet doors but at least you can get the idea. I'll try to get some shots of the reef and it's inhabitants when I get a chance. As you can see, my wife got her sand and I will get to box the durso in the near future. Still not quite done (I'm not sure if I ever will be) but as you can see, my summer project is coming along pretty well.

Looks great!

Sand with a durso box is a great compromise.

Re: DrHank's Tank's

Slate bottoms on an aquarium? Wow, I never saw that or even heard of it....must have been way before my time????????/ LMAO, ...ok, I give I had a few of those myself for my guppies, snakes, guinea pigs, and what ever else I could bring home.

I have those sea horse handles for my cabinet too. I am glad I looked at this thread because my husband had ordered them from Home Depot and never got them on. Guess because at the time we were both in healing process from accident, busy buying things for the tank and then he died. I will have to look for those things.

The tank looks absolutely GRRRREAT!

Re: DrHank's Tank's

Thanks folks. I'll try to get some close up's as soon as I can. Watch out caitrina, you could be giving away your age.

Seriously, I did do a metal frame 55 gallon on a wrought iron stand in the mid 80s. I wish I had a picture of it. Set it us as a South American freshwater tank with a pair of breeder sized angels. Only lasted about a year before it started leaking and I took it down. It was nostalgic.

Wow, that looks great! The color of the stain and handles and rope-looking trim on the wood give it a pirate treasure chest look! I love it!!

Re: DrHank's Tank's

That's a swank tank Hank! You've been a busy boy, the fruits of your labor are evident! My comment about a wide angle lens was metaphoric, but I'm glad to see the whole tank shot. Keep 'em coming!

Re: DrHank's Tank's

I realize a metaphor when I see one I just chose to capitalize on it to the extent possible. Should have some pictures of the occupants shortly. And may I say that your rhyme is sublime.

Re: DrHank's Tank's

Here's more Fotos Folks:

Here's one of the center of the tank looking right to left
[IMG][/IMG]

Here's one right to left
[IMG][/IMG]

Here's one of the right end of the tank
[IMG][/IMG]

Here's a shot of my purple tang and a question to go with it
[IMG][/IMG]

If you look on his throat you will see a white area. It just looks like a loss of pigmentation. Showed up yesterday, and doesn't seem to affect the fish in any way. Also it's only on one side of his throat. Opinions please.

Re: DrHank's Tank's

Beautiful corals!! I am not sure what causes the white area but I do not think it is anything to worry about. My achilles occassionaly gets a white area too.
