Re: DrHank's Tank's

Sorry Frankie, I missed your question. I'm a Chiropractic Physician.

Finally, I have a good picture to show.

[IMG][/IMG]

It's nearly finished. Still some minor tweeking to do. Wife wants sand. I want to box the standpipe (she doesn't).

More lighting is on the way. It will end up with 4 - 250w 14K MH for the 6-8 core hours and 4 - 54w T5s for 2 hours each dawn/dusk.

It took a few years (decades) but I finally got a big tank!

Wow, nice, the stain on the cabinet and hood are very classy!

I would side with the wife on the sand, with you on the standpipe.

Looks great Hank! How are you keeping fish from going into the standpipe? I vote for sand unless its a FO tank. Let's see some close-ups.

Re: DrHank's Tank's

Very nice tank indeed.
I have a friend that is a chiropracter. It's nice to get the hookup on back adjustments. After a Christmas of delivering boxes it comes in handy.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Re: DrHank's Tank's

Sand is on the way (my wife won). I didn't want to reuse the old. Gutter guard held in the durso with a 2" piece of PVC is keeping the fish out. I'll get some close-ups over the weekend (I hope). I'll win the box the standpipe issue (just won't tell her until it's done). Who wants to look at a standpipe in the tank anyway?!!!

As I mentioned, there's still a bit of tweaking to be done. But all the livestock seems to be enjoying their new home so far.

Re: DrHank's Tank's

Thanks all for your positive comments. Still quite a bunch of little stuff to do but you know that you're almost done when the livestock goes in. I'll try to get some more pics over the weekend if I can.

Sorry Scott, my camera doesn't have wide angle. I was thinking of a better camera but decided on a bigger tank instead. Fish won, me zero!

Re: DrHank's Tank's

Thanks Rebekah. It took me about 2 months to make the stand and top. To say the least it was a project (the biggest I've ever tried). I'll try to get some closer shots. You'll probably like the seahorse cabinet handles too.

The finish is, one coat of wood conditioner, followed by two coats of Minwax Provincial stain, followed by 3 coats of Marine Spar Varnish. The inside was even worse to do. It was two coats of Kilz oil based stain killer and primer followed by two coats of white latex enamel.

A reef club local in my area is also a professional painter and she walked me through the process. I have to give her credit for the final finish. Thank goodness it's done.
