Really nice Doc, can you answer my question thanks.

Ok thanks.I'm planning on putting a toadtstool on my stalactite , i know they do chemical warfare, i got a carbon reactor. The plan is to have the stool grow down then upright toward the light and having some gorgonia as well any good Sps that you woud see there that would be ok with the Toad stool. How about a stag...

Re: DrHank's Tank's

I'm not an SPS person so no help there, but good luck trying to get a toadstool to grow down. Mine stretch toward the light. I even had one in a cave and it stretched sideways and then up towards the light.
The gorgonian will really depend on what type, but I have a photosynthetic gorg that does great next to leathers or other softies. It's not very fond of LPS. Most of the non photosynthetic gorgs are really hard to keep alive for most people. I have tried a few with no luck.

Re: DrHank's Tank's

WOW! Your tank is more stunning than ever!! I LOVE that huge mushroom! It's a FREAK!!

Your euphies look awesome I want to win a "frag shopping spree" in your tank

I've had a leather that grew UP towards the light and when it hit a piece of Live Rock it kept growing and eventually "moved" totally up out of the area I wanted it on. Probably futile long term but will look cool short-term.

Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!!

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Thats actually what i'm counting on, he will be put upside down on the stalactite i got the holes for it and he'll have to grown rightside up again to reach the light , it should be a cool effect, and a photosynthetic gorgonia is what i'm looking for too. Ok thanks.

Re: DrHank's Tank's

Thanks folks. My gorg is actually an octocoral. I wouldn't buy a photosyhthetic Gorgonia. They have such a poor record of success that I wouldn't want to chance killing it. I have a soft spot for euphies to Big Al. I'll get a shot up under my 110w VHO SuperActinics. Talk about fluoresce, even my camera won't do them justice. Basile, I'd start with a Pocillipora or Millipora first. If it does well, move on the the stag horn if that's what you want. The real key is lighting, water chemistry and trying to keep ones hands out of the tank. The more you can leave it alone, the happier it will be.

I'll try to get some shots under the Actinics up when I can. I know that you folks want to see pictures, pictures, and more pictures. Me too.
