Cioutlaws 225 gallon

Well here we go...again!

This is going to be an upgrade from my current 120 gallon cioutlaws 120gal.that has been running for about 14 months.

The tank is a 225 gallon tank built by GlassCages in Tennesee, Tank will be a room divider & veiwed from 3 sides.
diminsions are 72"longx30"deepx25"tall
glass is 1/2" thick & low iron Starfire on 2 long sides & 1 short, 3/4" bottom
tank is Eurobraced & has 2 center braces
overflow is 6"x30" & has (2) 2" drains & (2) 1.5" returns

Look at the difference in glass color , compare the back glass(starfire) to the bottom(non-starfire)

Re: Cioutlaws 225 gallon

I was able to get started on the stand tonight & hope to have it built by the end of the weekend & maybe get started on the canopy. This one will be very similar to my last one but Im going to farm the doors out this time, I was never happy with my last attempt. I also plan to change a few things I didnt like from my old stand. will have 2 doors in the front & 1 on a short end. In the stand I plan to keep a 48x18x16 glass sump/fuge (build coming later) (2) 1200gph external pumps, MRC 2 chamber calcium reactor.

This is the bottom, I used 2x4s this time for 2 reasons..1)for more head room, was really tight getting my skimmer in my last stand. 2) The floor of the stand will be sunken & sealed so if a leak occurs It wont flood the house immediatly, I am also going to put a moisture alarm in so if it does leak maybe a large mess can be avoided.

This is the top..again I used 2x4 braces for more clearence except I did use (1) 2x6 in the center.

Was working by myself & needed some weight during assembly LOL

& the framing is ready for the floor to be put in.

Not bad for an evenings work, hope to do more tommorow.

You're a madman! Looks great! Is this a new set-up or are you moving your 120 contents into this one?

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

That stand looks great!! I love room dividers. You really get to see everything that is goin on the tank and it give you all kinds of room for showing off corals. Good luck to ya I'll be following along.

A tank wall divider with plumbing on the end I see, very nice!

14 months... that's not very long resisting the urge to upgrade hmmmm...then again...maybe it is ....

Keep up the good work!

Re: Cioutlaws 225 gallon

Just some updated pictures of the stand, little more trim work, electrical & finish & it will be done. A guy that works in our cabinet shop at work is going to make my doors. Im hoping to have this possibly set up by early July.

I used 3/4" oak for the top & 1/4" unfinished Birch Waynescoat paneling for skin & oak trim

Why did you go with the clear overflow wall?

Re: Cioutlaws 225 gallon

Yep..I really regretted not doing it on my last stand, want the tank trim to be hidden. Ive got a set of suction cups lined up for the move.

wow.. I just realized how much the Waynescoat in the front doesnt match from one side to the other. Hope it looks better when stained.
