After a WTF thread on RS I identified his meal as one of the turbo snails. I'd be lost without you guys!

Everything was going along dashingly. Still didn't know any better, so I went and bought a couple maroon clowns. (Which by some odd twist of fate I can't currently find pictures of).
The first tragedy struck! A rockslide. Not a bad one, just a couple rocks shifted a little and dropped my bubble coral to the sandbed. It recovered, but with some loss.

The next day there was a bad ammonia spike... and one of the maroons was nowhere to be seen. After some digging, and some tears, his remains were found under one of the shifted rocks. The other maroon (the female) was lost to Ich within a week. Unwilling to go on without her male.

It took some convincing, but my wife decided we could go on reefing (the clowns were the reason she wanted a SW tank in the first place).
Off to Ocean Wonders to confess to the owner that we had killed the clowns within a month of getting them. But we were ready to fight back! Making our tank a safe-haven for future clowns. We found the magical product:

and began the treatment just before I left for another 3 month trip around the Atlantic

Don't know if any of you have ever been in the Navy and know what it's like out to sea. Think of the movie GroundHog's Day without the women. And have it take place in a sardine can. Only one thing on the mind typically: GETTING HOME!!!! Because what's at home?

Let the countdown to dry ground begin!

Sorry, I digressed.
Let's fast forward to being on dry ground again...
I had recently added a sump with a syphon overflow box just prior to going to sea.

which terrified the Mrs. Therefore, instead of doing waterchanges, she just added RO/DI when the levels dropped.
Which led to this:

Red slime algae EVERYWHERE!

It took a lot of patience, but the red slime started to recede.

There was still some filth on the sandbed, so I decided I needed a sand sifter... Those Diamond Gobies look pretty:

and a completely closed top
At this point, I was calling it a tank of doom

It seems I wasn't meant to have fish Thus, inspired by a coral of the week, I'm off to Ocean Wonders again!

I swear it doubled in size between their tank and mine!

Finally happy about the tank again. No more stressing over how to fix it... And the reef God smiles down on me and says, "You don't REALLY need that many fish!" and BOOM!! Down goes Indis and Husqvarna! 2 fish in 2 days. Both from ich!
How can this be?! I used the magic stuff! I can't have clownfish if I've got Ich!!!
A quick slap in the face from RS and I find my solution:

Quarantine Tank is on its way:

Filled it up with water from the display to help in the initial cycle.
added some live rock and a coral skeleton

and soon introduced all the "survivors" Damsel, Tress, and the yet unnamed new diamond goby

It took some getting used to, but we all adapted to the change

Callista fussed at me until I moved the chair. The corals aren't as much fun for her to watch

Lighting = 6x250 watts MH, 2x96 watt PC ,and 2x140 watt VHO for a total watt of 1,972 watts . New addition on 4-14-07 of 100 gallon sump and 100 gallon refugium. I think I have lost my mind.
