Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

Awesome. This tank is going to be great. Do you have more LR in your sump or fuge? That is what I do to keep up the biological filtration without cluttering the display. I like the wide open look but would be afraid to run the tank with that little LR. Of course you do say you are adding rock from the old tank so that should help as well.
Everything looks great. Congrats.

Looks great Kimmy! Rouge, if you look at the picture again you can see the water on the surface.

Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

I have rubble in sump, not much, about 10 lbs. Rock in the display as it stands is 77lbs. The pieces are large w/ nooks and crannies and have a lot of complete open surface area. I will be adding more to the sump and more than likely as I add coral and find interesting pieces of rock, I'll end up making some type of arch.

I know I'm a little different in the rock area ( and a couple other areas in the hobby as well ) but I believe that if you have
large surface open rock with good flow the opportunity to get the most benifit from the rock is increased. Not to mention longevity due to unclogged pores.

Once you see how long it is going to take me to stock my tank you'll get my feel....lol....I'm sure this is not what any of you want to read...lol...

Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

Did a water change today and brought the 8 gallons home to switch out in the new. I'm thinking that I will make the transfer sometime this week.

Farewell to the old....

Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

Kim how's the skimmer working out ? Has it been through the breakin period yet or is there little to be skimmed with the small amount of LR thus far ?

Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

It's in its break in period. I've gotten a bit of wet dingy water, but thats it. It has been running for 48 hrs.

I'm excited for you Kim! It's looking awesome! Maybe you have something with your concept of wide open space and flushing out the rock pores.

Thanks Scott....I made the physical change in my 55 because of my thought process about 3 yrs ago. I will get up to 120 as I add coral, but I need to consider placement and growth so I'm going slow for now.

Ok, Here's what I've been doing the past couple of days....

I finally got my brackets that lift my lights up off my tank dialed in.

I made a 3 layered screen system because of the lighting upgrade from 65watt 10K's to 150 watt MH HQI's. I will cut out one screen per week.

I lifted the MH Ballasts for max circulation, I figured that they would run cooler if I did.

The auto top off is installed....thanks madam blue....I did it your way

so, here are some pics

ohhhh...I just flipped the switch on the MH...so the full tank pic isn't as bright as it will be once they heat up
