Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

Here is a note I copyied from the instructions and you may or may not know about already but it's something to check.

"The Remora is NOT designed to be used with the venturi accessory if you are using the Rio 1400. No other fittings are needed, and do not use the venturi attachment that comes with the pump."

Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

Thanks Terry, I read that too, I am not using any attachments, Just a vinyl hose clamped on to the skimmer and on to the pump.

The skimmer is going BALLISTIC !

It will definitely not be on tonight or while I'm at work, I need to be checking in on it every 30 minutes.

Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

Everything looks good, how often do you have to empty the skimmer cup?

Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

Yup, is there any way you've found to reduce the flow?

Smaller pump is all I can think. These skimmers are pretty much plug and play. I've already adjusted the cup and injector screw.

I would agree with a smaller pump for less flow.

Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

I had two remora pro skimmers. They work great!
It is just doing its job.
I would let it keep skimming while you are there to empty the collection cup.
It will slow down once the dissolved organics in the water are reduced.

Bingo! nice call Woody, if you have been minimal skimming up to now its working overtime to catch up, it will settle down, keep an eye on your salinity tho

Ok Doni, I'll mix up a batch of saltwater to add as I loose the 6-8 gallons a night until it settles.

The water is clear, with the slightest ting of yellow. I know I have a fair amount of organics, but I do not want to come even close to "overskimming"

Do you think I should keep the same pump or go down a notch?

Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

Down a notch is actually up a notch to the Mag 3. Those are the only two pumps they recommend for that skimmer.

Is it possible to overskim? I didn't think so...
