Adam, That is a Pagoda, which usually takes the form of a cup due to current, this one has an unusual shape due to multi directional water flow while forming....

Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

I bought another Remora C skimmer for my tank and it arrived today. ( I like minimal skimming )
I ran a smaller one on my 55 for about 7 months out of a total of 4 yrs that the tank was running. On the up graded 120 I had a recirculated Octopus skimmer that I ran for the first 4 months this tank has been set up for about a year now.
For the life of me, I can't remember if during the break in period the output into the cup is tremendous. I've drawn about 2 gallons of water out of the skimmer in a 2.5 hr. period. Does this sound right?

Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

Sounds like you have the skimmer adjusted to skim VERY wet. Turn it down a bit so the water level isn't so high in the skimmer.

Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

I don't remember the proper adjustment for a Remora, but shouldn't the injector screw be out to let in more air?

Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

the more IN the screw, the less WET of a skim... more air means wetter skim... (not correcting, just stating)it should settle down.. i would HOPE! lol

Growth on the back of the tank is algae. My clowns love it, but I need to slowly get it out before it takes hold of rock. I think I need to run a fan in back since my sequencer is tank high and puts off a bunch of heat; that combined with snail loss added to this growth.
The coral your talking about is a Torch. It basically has hogged the right side of the tank it is so big, I've got some low coral, but I have to be careful what I put on that side. Thanks for the comments

Re: Kim’s 120 Possibilities

Which pump are you using with the Remora? The Rio 1400 or the Mag 3?
