Well here Is pic to leave you with, dont worry there will be many more to follow.

Wow nice setup. Can you tell me the height of the stand and the canopy. Also who makes it as I want to buy one like it....

Re: The 90G Build.

Well came home on a lunch break today only to find hundreds of tiny almost to the point of microscopic white bugs of somesort all along the front of the glass. Im hopeing this a good thing I tried to take a pic but my camera and skills do no justice. Going to do some water test tonight to see where my water quality Is at. I also am starting to get a very light film of algae on the glass as well, I know this Is natural and beneficial. I know somone out there has the answer, so If anyone can kindly fill me In.

Re: The 90G Build.

The tiny white bugs could be copepods. Great little guys.

Re: The 90G Build.

Well somewhat learned my lesson that buying a compact fixture over a retrofit might not be the best thing. Here Is the fixture fitting nice and compact, so compact the fixtures exuast fan Is right up against the side of the canopy. So after having temps go up to 82-83 and a SMOKING "HOT" fixture housing I had to come up with something quick. Went to Walmart and picked up this cool little quiet fan for $12 bux. Actually this brought my temps down to 78-79, and keeps the fixture cool as well. Little more happy now.

Talking Re: The 90G Build.

Mr. Palm Beach;

Would it not be possible for your to purchase a 3" or 4" hole saw (that attaches to your drill) from Home Depot or Lowe's and drill a hole on the side of your canopy to allow the fans in the lights to draw air from the outside to cool themselves?

Be careful that the new fan doesn't accidentally end up in the tank...

Good Luck And Have Fun!!!;

Re: The 90G Build.

I could do that without a doubt your absolutely right, but for right now I would really hate to start cutting up a brand new canopy. I know It makes sense and all and most likely Im going to have to do It when I upgrade to some MH. But for now Id like to take all other options befor I have to start drilling holes. The fan Is pretty secured between the fixture and door so I dont have to worry about It falling In.

Re: The 90G Build.

I think SZHTTM gave you very good advice. You really need to get the air in there for the gas exchange also. That canopy is sealed all the way around. Not good. If you change your mind, the way i would drill it is, First find the center from the inside and drill a small hole from the inside out. Then you have your mark on the outside and can drill from the outside in with the large hole saw and not chew up the wood on the outside.

Re: The 90G Build.

The canopy Is NOT sealed all the way around, Its completely opened up In the back other than a top support brace. There Is also a 2" wide support brace In the middle In back. The complete setup sits about 4" off the wall. In that said there Is plenty of air flow being vented out and circulated for your "gas exchange". I see no reason In having to drill holes If not needed.

Re: The 90G Build.

That is a great looking stand & canopy, goes great with your tile floor. I agree with the others put some fans on there, you wont regret it.

Re: The 90G Build.

Temps between 80 and 84 degrees are very common in the tropical reefs, not to worry. With sufficient circulation which aids oxygenation, everything will be fine in the 82-83 degree range. Big flucuations in temp are more problematic.

I agree with Lynn, probably copepods.
