| Tunicate | Custom 150g I had sold all my reef tanks thinking that I could get by on just a little 30g seahorse tank.....boy was I wrong! The hubby talked me into designing another reef. Here's my 150g...a slow going project! Tank dims: 48"x30"x24" (LxWxH) Dual Calfo External Overflow 30"x4"x6" Two 3/4" sump returns drilled top of brace Four 1" closed loop (CL) returns drilled corners of bottom of tank 1.5" CL intake drilled lower corner below overflow box Overflow and CL intake side painted black ![]() ![]() ![]() I have most of the equipment for the tank, I just have to have a stand built for it. It's going to be a see through or island tank. Equipment CL pump: Sequence Reeflo Dart 3600 GPH plumbed to an OceansMotions 4-way Sump pump: 1260 Eheim 635 GPH ASM G2 skimmer w/DIY recirrculation mod Ca Reactor made by a buddy Lighting: Dual 250w Halides w/ Lumenarc III reflectors Two 48" T5s w/ Icecap reflectors and 660 ballast AC Jr. controller Sump: 75g 36"x24"x20" with a 25g refugium 22"x16"x17". I'm going to Y the return from the overflow, one going into the bubble trap and the other into the refugium. ![]() The next step is the plumbing....the part I absolutely hate!!! When finished, it will sort of look like this tank but, again....it's going to viewed from both sides. ![]()

| Tunicate | Re: Custom 150g Thanks guys! Hopefully I'll have this thing up and running by June. Does anyone else use an OceansMotions and if so...have you plumbed it using flexy PVC? Anyone got any experience with flexy PVC anyways? Thanks.

| They misunderestimated me ![]() | Re: Custom 150g I generally hate working with flex pvc. It isn't very pliable and requires a lot of room to make long bends and you can't make sharp bends at all with it. I prefer regular pvc with a couple 45 degree elbows. I haven't gotten to use an oceans motion unit myself, but my buddy plumbed one up and was extremely happy with it. He used regular PVC.

| Tunicate | Re: Custom 150g Thanks guys! I have the rough draft for the stand plans but, unfortunately, I forgot to draw out a template before I had it crated up for the move to NC. My bro-in-law's a cabinet maker and he's going to be doing the stand. Unfortunately, he's in Jersey and will be building the stand without the tank... so I really need to have that template for the CL holes in the bottom of the tank. I won't be in NC till the end of April... I figured I'd give myself about a month or so to get everything done. ![]() On the flexy PVC...I really hate to lose that much flow with all the 90s and 45s I'll need to plumb the 4 way. I was hoping just to use elbows to connect the flexy PVC to the 4 way and the bulk heads. Do you guys know how well flexy PVC holds up? Is it harder to cement? Thanks.
