Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

Did you add a programmer so you can make them chase and strobe?
Then you can open the first marine disco.

Nice DIY skills dog.

Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

Thanks Craig Time for a small update .. I took out most of the red macro... unfortunatley i think it's impossible to get it all I do think though that I was able to rid the sponge from my tank; except from the bit left on the plugs of my zoas, which will be my next effort. Anyhow, here is my tank, slightly re-aquascaped, with on the left, what will hopefully become my "mountian of Zoas" I also was able to get a PO4 test kit, and it reads 0, so now I'm really scratching my head as to why i'm getting this macro algae so bad

Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

Your PO4 tests could be reading 0 because the macro algae is using it all up.
Glad you got rid of that encrusting "sponge". Too bad you had to throw away the LR to do so.

Nice lights, Andy! So are you saying that the back of the tank is mostly that grey sponge? It doesn't look like coraline...

Thanks The back of the tank is all coralline, with some GSP's groing on the back, the sponge was on some of the rocks, which I removed, and is still on a couple of the Zoa plugs, so hopefully i can free the remaining zoas from this stuff

Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

We'll as always, I've returned... hopefully I can still come back to "open RS arms" Anyhow.. I'll be updating everything here including my DIY light project in the next day or so. I honestly haven't layed a hand on/in my tank for the past few months, and nothing's changed. Everything is doing wonderfully, with the exception of my green button polyps taking over a colony of my ring of fire zoas that and my macro algae problem that has never ceased. On the plus side, I am looking into an RO/DI unit, (finally...) which will hopefully help me cure these nuisance problems! at any rate hello again everyone! Scott, Cat, Lynn, Jeff.... i'm back. Scott, i'm sure you predicted it...

Hah! But of course victor, only problem is that literally nothing has changed... :/ I haven't spent any money on my reef in quite some time aside from typical supplies. Cat will be happy to know however that pinky is doing wonderfully, although no signs of fragging yet.. I need to see what it takes to get my tank growing better. any thoughts on a small MH/PC fixture?
