Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

Okay! Time for another update!

New Parameters as of 11-11-07:

pH ~8.0
Calc ~420ppm
Alk ~7.5dKH
NO2 ~0
NO3 ~0
SG ~1.023 (slowly raising this via top off water to 1.024-1.025)
Temp 80.5 +/- 1 throughout the day.

I replaced my PC bulbs yesterday, and all I can say is WOW. first off, those coralife bulbs are now obsolete in my opinion. The current Dual Actinic 460nm/420nm bulb is amazing! I can see so many colors in my tank that I didn't even know existed. It is simply unbelievable. The zoas I have that I though were drab, are AMAZING now! It's very difficult to capture the colors on my camera, but I will continue to try. For now though here are some pictures to show the difference of the actinic bulbs (old bulb top, new bottom) I did not do a before and after with the 10k because I used the same bulb.. new one is just it's full usual spectrum again Also, notice the GSP's glued to the back glass Oh, AND i have to nano korallias coming from jack

First, a top down shot, before Bulb replacement:

New bulb comparison (old actinic top pic, new - bottom)

New FTS with both new bulbs:

I am curious to see as well! I'm sure it will, since whether or not the Current bulb actually is better, my coralife bulbs were reaching the end of their usable life. I am curious though if my growth will get really good with the current bulb, as it seems to be a more accurate "actinic" bulb, rather than just a blue colored bulb, as the coralife seemed to be.

Also forgot to mention that I did a 5 gallon water change a few days ago, in attempts to regain my control of my calc/alk situation, which seems to be getting back into whack

Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

hah, thats right scott! watch, i probably jinxed it now my physics final was suprisingly easy, compared to previous exams. The course was Physics, Mechanics, heat, and sound. and got pretty difficult, but sadly I enjoyed it yea, I'm a dork like that. But studying for that final will definitely take the life out of ya...
