The green suff is unfortunately hair algae and not Cheato. Must be a source of nitrates somewhere. Your maintenance may eliminate the nitrates and thus the hair algae.
Hmm, darn, I'm goin to try and get rid of it by ridding the nitrates like you said, because I don't want to pluck it and take all of my little bristle stars away from their home! I'd rather they slowly find another home in the tank!

uhhhh, Excuse me Andy. where is the new stuff? You made me look to see if Lynn was online so I could meet her at an LFS today and she isn't. Guess I will go alone. Don't want to call her because she may be spending time with hubby.Ahhh, I guess I will just stay home and wait for you to post new stuff!

Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

Okay!! While I write up the detailed post about changes/additions.. here's a FTS... can you spot the differences? (Hint: there's only two NEW things, but multiple changes...) Most right gets invisible karma!

Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

Andy your tank is looking really good.
I really like the big shroom discovery zone.

your hair algae is missing.
Is that a fungia or plate coral over by the lower left corner?

Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

I was thinking that thing in the lower left corner was some kind of mushroom, interesting to see what it is.

Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

Okay, Here goes!

First off.. I went to two LFS's. My usual, which I hadn't been to in weeks, but sure enough, got a "dude, what's up! where've you been?" hah. Also checked out another LFS near here, Aquatic Environments, which was just okay, but is where I picked up my new additions... which are.....

A $10 small Brown Montipora Frag

I had done some research before on montipora and found that the brown varieties can be kept in less intense light and i've always wanted one, so for $10 I can't Go wrong! Plus, once it grows a bit, (provided it does of course) It will provide some extra shade for Pinky! Who has shown me over the time I've owned it that likes lower light. It's always fully open at night or when shaded, and contracts a bit when under regular light.

Pinky's New Home:

Next, New Zoanthids! A nice small fragged colony of a yellow variety of zoanthids. I'm not sure just what variety they are yet, allthough they look somewhat like eagle eyes! I'll be more sure when they're fully open.

Finally, I Moved a bunch of my frag rocks to work them into my tank, with hopes they will all begin to spread. I also moved one of my Ricordea florida down lower where it can be seen much better, and will not be covered up by the larger R. florida.

Okay, so not really a big deal... but I'm excited, so I guess that's what matters

Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

Looks Good Andy....it is a BIG deal, at least it is to me when I do things like this. So if that is true about the brown monti does that mean I can actaully get a piece of it and put under my PCs in the 65? I love the monti, but thought I had to have MH's for it.
