Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

Well, my LFS finally got the starry blennies that i asked them to order when they could 4 months ago, after i settled on a bi color... needless to say, i think my bicolor is getting traded in. He was growing more and more on me, but the starry blenny is what I had my heart set on from the get go, and it's a bit more "desireable" I'll post a farewell picture of him tomorrow!

Thanks for the compliments guys! heh I was bored today, can you tell

Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

Well, Great news! I caught the last chromis! now he can go live with some buddies at the LFS instead of being alone in my 29 and getting picked on by the clowns! Next up to be caught before the LFS run is my bicolor blenny... I have to admit, I will be pretty sad to let go of him, and I would keep him, but I don't want any problems with two blennies, so he's going to go... Mr. blenny refused to show his face for the photo, i think he's upset too. I will have pictures of the Starry blenny, and anything else i might "waste" my money on while i'm at the LFS

Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

LOL, wow he's great isn't he!!

Andy I am curious, when you take these photos what setting is your camera on? Anything special? Your colors don't get washed out by the light, yet they aren't dark either.....
The one of your zoas was really nice as well.....did you take it with atinics (?) lights on? or with halide only or what? They are beautiful pictures!!

Thanks for sharing this with us, you have inspired me to start work on my own journal!!! :-)

Cool Beans, I mean fish, Andy! I think Waldo is a perfect name for him. I like your new fish, he is really cute! Good luck with him.

Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

brikeibur - Thanks so much for the kind words! As for the pictures, I put my camera in manual mode, change the iso setting to a lower number, so that the pictures are less grainy, adjust the aperture settings so that the entire scene, or most of it is in focus so this means a larger f-stop and then adjust the shutter speed to get the desired amount of light... it takes some goofing around, and alot of paitence! Just mess around with what your camera has and I'm sure you'll find some new tricks! also, play with the white balance! this is how i got the picture of those zoas! it was taken under the lunars, and i was trying to find a way to take a picture that would capture just how beautiful they actually looked under the led's sure enough, press enough buttons and just experiment, and thats what i turned out with! Good luck with your photography, and i look forward to reading your chronicle!

caitrina - Thanks so much! I think I'll be naming him that I was thinking little dipper or dipper, or orion... you know starry blenny.. constelation hehe lame i know More pictures to come!

Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

Very nice video. How is the tank handling the bioload? May need to watch as the 5 fish mature as it might push the denitification limits.

Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

caitrina - hah guess i'm not alone He's doing great! Still rather shy though.. But so was my BiColor Blenny at first, so can't really say just yet He's definitely one amazing fish though

craig - Thanks! i was bored and well.. yea, that's the result I've only got three fish now, since i managed to capture the chromis! So only fish in there now are the two ocellaris clowns and the starry blenny. None of which yet are adults, but so far so good! everything is looking healthy, everything's testing well, so I think I'm set so far

Re: Andy's 29 Gallon Reef

Nice work Andy, glad to hear the tank is stablizing and handling the bioload. 3 fish in your 29 gallon gives you more margin as your fish mature.
