BSJ, I wouldn't take your blue, LOL. I am patiently waiting for my own... I really think I want to wait a month, or two before I get one. But, if the right one comes along, I will HAVE to get it.

I am going to check on my hippo today, and see if my LFS can get me a sailfin (thanks Lynn). In another month, I will be looking at the wrasses... thanks Matt and Dave. I'm a little nervous about adding a lot at one time... I am going to TRY to go slow, unlike my first time around.

That is always a risk - Hence you really need two - hehe! Actually, I have always been able to convince them to slowly change their spot to where I can watch. Like SWF said, when food talks, fish listen. I do not ever bother them when they are first settling into the tank though. I want them very comfortable for a good month or so regardless of where they are. BS#1 is still at the adapting stage. He is moving himself around to find the best place, where he isn't bothered by other stuff like fish, and where there is a good supply of food that finds its way to him. If your's ends up in the back of the tank, the food is probably coming from that direction. Or, there may be too much activity in the front of your tank. My tank has a lot of activity, but they seem to be able to find pockets where there is more protection than others. BS #3 has completed his home and is now the proud owner of a home with a front, side, and back view. He is still hanging out of the hole a lot - which is cool. I'm surprized my clown is letting him stay where he is because it is next to her favorite fuzzy mushroom rock that she feeds. All the big fish sleep right behind him. Another tip, when you introduce them to the tank, place them directly in close proximity where you want them to end up. If you bought one from a store that houses them in PVC pipe, you might place some of that where you want them to go too.

As for the spawning - Some of the site I have read said they have been bred in captivity, raising them though I don't know. You would never wait that long anyway now would you?

Nice addition Lisa! This tang is one of my favorites. Unfortunately, I have a Yellow Tang and they wouldn't cohabitate well or I'd have one too. He's a beaut!

I think it's ok as long as they are different shapes like hippo and yellow are... I'm sure there's a "more scientific" explanation out there. Maybe someone will offer it...

Beautiful tang Lisa!

It is always best to add tangs at the same time. This will ensure that one does not have 'territory' to defend.
With enough space, you can have multiple tangs of the same type in one tank but it is best to mix tangs of different genera..

just to name a few.....

Regal tang = Paracanthurus
Yellow/sailfin/scopas tangs = Zebrasoma
Powder blue/convict tangs = Acanthrus
Yellow eyed kole/tomini/chevron tangs = Ctenochaetus
